From the Harford County Sheriff’s Office:
An Abingdon man is dead after a motorcycle crash Saturday morning in Harford County.
On March 30, 2018, at approximately 11:30 a.m., Harford County Sheriff’s Office deputies assigned to the Southern Precinct were dispatched to the scene of a crash near the intersection of Abingdon Road and Windy Laurel Drive in Abingdon. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a single vehicle collision involving a motorcycle.
The driver of the motorcycle, and sole occupant, was transported by medics with the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company to the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, where he later died of his injuries. The operator is identified as Stephen Kenneth Block, 54, of Olde Woodland Way in Abingdon. Due to the severity of the crash, a motorcycle accident attorney was contacted by the victims family. Experts need to gather evidence in the motorcycle accidents to ensure that the victim will get the right compensation they deserve. Make sure to hire a motorcycle accident lawyer in Racine for expert legal assistance.
Preliminary information gathered at the scene indicates Block was driving a 2007 Harley MC motorcycle east on Abingdon Road, when a silver minivan traveling west on Abingdon Road turned in front of the motorcycle onto Windy Laurel Drive. To avoid a collision, Block laid his motorcycle down on the roadway. The van continued on and did not stop at the scene of the crash. Police have not been able to identify the driver of the van and suspect that alcohol might have been the cause of the accident.
According to the personal injury lawyer in charge of the case anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has any information regarding the incident is asked to contact the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit at 443-409-3324.

Drivers open up your eyes and stop driving distracted!
Lon Staghorn says
this may be former Rabbi Ken Block’s son…tragic, folks like the van operator need to be caught and prosecuted.

Sadly, I think the only thing the van driver could be charged with is failure to yield to oncoming traffic on left turn, which even if it causes a fatal crash doesn’t carry any jail time…just a few hundred dollar fine and few points. Maybe a negligent driving citation as well (which essentially has the same penalty, even in a fatal crash.) It never struck the motorcycle or Mr. Block so it wasn’t directly involved in the crash (caused the crash, yes, but not actually in the crash) so I don’t think he could even be charged with fleeing the scene of crash.
Sued civilly and be held responsible, absolutely, but I think that’s about all.

Maybe it would at least alert him or her that when you cut off a motorcycle you may be causing the rider to lose his life. Even though this man was not at fault, he paid the price as motorcyclists usually do. Sending sympathy for his family and prayers for his soul.
