From the Aberdeen Police Department:
On Monday, December 3, 2018, shortly after 3:00 p.m., a parent contacted Aberdeen Middle School and reported seeing a social media post from a student, warning students not come to school the following day because of a threat made by a student to shoot up the school.
At the conclusion of the investigation, it was determined the threat was not credible and that the student never made a threat as originally reported.
As a result of the investigation, two 8th grade students have been referred to Juvenile Services. One charged with False Statement to a Peace Officer and the other with Disturbing School Operations.
The Aberdeen Police Department encourages students and parents to report threats of violence to our children and schools, as safety is our main concern, however at the same time, false reports or the posting/reposting threats on social media will not be tolerated.
