And so it begins says
This is a seed people. You won’t be able to argue once subsidized apartments go in. Developers get extra money and subsidies for this stuff.
truth says
poverty is neither a crime nor a character flaw. Stigmatize those that let people die not those that struggle to live.
harford county constitutionalist says
The fact is that crime follows subsidized rents like a plague.
SoulCrusher says
I don’t know, the fact that rent is so high that people have to seek assistance in paying their rent seems like more of a crime to me. I understand your argument and I am not going to say you are wrong, but inflation is a reason that causes crime to occur. If you can’t afford to live, you must resort to less than savory methods to get by and survive. Especially in a family with kids. Would you let you family starve in order to be lawful? I bet you wouldn’t. There are many factors involved, but we must remember one man’s crime may be another man’s livelihood, or his families livelihood. I can not condemn a person for feeding their family even if they had to steal to do it. I can condemn a person who selfishly uses money meant to feed their family for their own selfish purposes or addictions. Any person who lets their children starve so they can eat expensive foods, live in a life of luxury and buy illegal or legal drugs should be condemned. That’s the way I see things…..
Don'tsmokedope says
Oh I don’t know hard to say that you need a lexus and a iPhone in order to live but fact is those things are stolen all the time. Being poor doesn’t qualify you for virtue, but some want us all to pretend that poor people are honest and just working for their families and that is often just not the case. Crack heads don’t feed their kids either and many, many crackheads live in subsidized housing.
SoulCrusher says
So, what does your last sentence have to do with your screen name? Do you even know what dope is? Dope is a term given to heroin now a days. You don’t smoke dope. You snort it or inject it. I know you where trying to take a stab at me, but at least get your terminology correct. Remember, I don’t care what you say because you are a traitor.
All my friends are dead because they couldn’t seem to kill me…. Jon Adam McCarty (2018)
harford county constitutionalist says
I see your point and understand that if pushed to that level crime can be justified, but it can never be accepted by society. I lived in Dundalk in the late 80’s through the 90’s and saw the change happen there, although I did not understand it until I grew older. The section 8 tenants than moved in during that time frame often made very poor money decisions and did not raise their families to be good hardworking citizens. I cannot think of one criminal I knew where feeding their family was the reason for their crimes, just what I saw not necessarily the truth.
Often we find that working hard and choosing to save rather than spend frivolously is something that is eroded by social programs. Graduating high school and not having kids until you are married is a pretty low bar in my opinion and those two thing will pretty much ensure you do not end up poor.
SoulCrusher says
I understand your point, but what you have to realize is that most of these people in Section 8 housing have illegally been defrauded of their rights and liberty thru unconstitutional law. Rich people don’t raise their kids to be hard working and most rich people spend money VERY frivolously. I graduated High School and have no kids, yet I am dirt poor and have been persecuted time and time again for laws that don’t exist. It’s not about people being bad, it’s about people persecuting others for their own amusement.
DJT says
That’s just not true, look at trump he’s rich and more criminal than most in jail.
SoulCrusher says
Trump is not a criminal. Those who call him a criminal are the real criminals. He is trying to erase over a hundred years of intentional treason aimed at destroying this country. Those who don’t see this have forgotten why this country came into existence in the first place and that was to be free. Those who want strict rules and regulations don’t want freedom. They want everything contained and everyone to conform. That is NOT freedom. That IS contrary to what the United States is all about. I keep hearing about “the rule of law”, yet the law doesn’t follow the law. The fact is the Constitutional Republic has been overthrown by a Democratic vessel of treason bent on a fascist vision of what this country should be. Both political parties have contributed to the treason, yet both political parties claim the other is responsible. Those whom you have elected have made law that was never to made. They sent generations to fight foreign wars for foreign nations. They have literally enslaved the American population to live in a way that was never meant to be. Where is the freedom? They say you have freedom if you live the way we tell you, but that just isn’t freedom. They say you have rights if you think and speak the way we want you to think and speak, but that means you are being controlled. There is no freedom in living, thinking and speaking in a manner that is contrary to freedom and is controlled by the government. This is fascism at its finest. Trump was elected because the people wanted a real person to run this country and not some automaton that will blindly go about leading this country astray into nothingness. Let the man do his job. In two years he jump started the economy and has tried to adhere to his campaign promises, yet has fallen short due to the betrayal of established career politicians bent on leading this country into obscurity. Trump is no criminal and he definitely isn’t a traitor. I’m tired of hearing about it.
Scott Randoph says
Add to that the decrease in property values and crime that always follows. The fact is that they have already built Section 8 housing in Fallston on RT 1 next to Bob Bell. The kids from that apartment complex already attend Fallston schools and they call the Fallston kids “racists” on the school bus. Ask any of the children that ride those busses.
The fact is the state wants to sprinkle the Section 8 problem all over the State of Maryland instead of keeping it isolated within city limits. The “East of 95” Section 8 plan isn’t good enough for the State of Maryland considering they have ruined all of those communities with it. Joppatowne was an amazing waterfront community before Section 8. Edgewood and Aberdeen have been ruined by Section 8 as well. Between the vouchers and the apartment complexes, the State won’t be happy until Fallston, Baldwin, Jarrettsville, Bel Air and Forrest Hill are all inundated with Section 8 housing because the Feds and the State of Maryland feel that the rest of Harford County is too “white” and too “Republican” for them.
Get ready to see the mass exodus of people selling their homes. Just like Parkville, Rosedale, Essex, Overlea and Dundalk that moved out of these communities 20 years ago to make a better life for themselves and their families did when they moved into Harford County originally. These communities will be destroyed again by the Section 8 problem that has turned every community that is brought to into crap.
These new transplants do not care about anything but getting a free home, they are parasites that trash every community they move into because the cannot assimilate and they have no desire want to be a part of these communities. They cannot afford, food, housing, medical care, transportation or anything that is required to live in the suburbs.
Bob says
Your failure to even know the basics of section 8 housing is astounding.
I like Orange Juice says
Lol. Please, enlighten us on these basics of “section 8.”
You should first impress us with your highly important personal background/experience so we can go “Wow” and how great you are.
SoulCrusher says
Section 8 housing is supposed to provide rental assistance to eligible low income families, and help them become more successful at obtaining affordable housing and increasing their housing choices. However, it has been used in this State as a means to decrease property values of surrounding properties and make the valuation of property more consistent with that of other areas of the State. If Section 8 housing is placed in a new area, every citizen in that area should sue the County/State immediately to get their property reassessed and decrease the tax levied upon their property. The State can NOT ignore the effects of low income housing being placed in new areas as the County/State is fully aware of the negative effects placed upon properties and their values from these actions. There is no denying this. Furthermore, the citizens should also ask for a one time monetary payment of the precise devaluation of their property due to the State’s knowing and willing devaluation of the property as the County/State is responsible for the devaluation, which is a loss to the property owners. The State is responsible for any damage its actions cause a citizen and any loss is a damage.
cyniskeptic says
and how many poor families have you taken in under your roof?
Karen says
6 total how about you?
rw Billie says
If they weren’t subsidized, they wouldn’t be built! Let that sink in.
WHAT says
Everyone needs to get to this meeting tonight and raise hell. I see no proposal to add this development anywhere close to the people who own the development company that want to build this.
resident says
How about your dumb ass buys the property and turn it into a park for the county.
WHAT says
How about you relearn English considering it is your secondary language after stupid.
The Boogie Man says
Jill Stein is still working on the Michigan Re-Count. We will stop Trump. Our deep state depends on it.
