Maryland State Police at JFK Highway are investigating a fatal collision that occurred on Interstate 95 north of Route 222, in Perryville at around 10:32 a.m. on Sunday.
The accident occurred when the driver of a 2001 Jeep Cherokee, 37 year old Eric Schlerf of Bel Air, Maryland, for unknown reasons, lost control of his vehicle and struck a tow truck, another vehicle, and a pedestrian. The tow truck was a 2014 white Freightliner Tow Truck. The Freightliner Tow Truck was retrieving a 1993 purple Chevrolet Camero. If you’re looking for towing Roanoke call Request Towing & Recovery.
The tow truck operator, 51 year old Brian Williams of Cecil County, was outside of the vehicles and was struck. State Troopers and EMS personnel responded to the scene. Mr. Williams was later pronounced deceased at 10:48 a.m.
MDTA personnel responded to the crash to aid with lane closures. No charges have been filed at this time. The investigation is on going.
