Investigators are searching for the suspect who set a truck on fire early Friday morning after the vehicle crashed into a tree and was abandoned.
Just before 1:15 a.m. on Friday, emergency personnel were dispatched to Pauls Lane in Joppa for the report of a vehicle fire in a 2008 Ford F-250.
A man operating the truck was apparently involved in a single vehicle accident approximately a half-hour prior to the fire being discovered by a passerby. The man wrecked into a tree with the truck sustaining significant impact damage to the passenger door area. The man later fled from the scene.
Investigators determined a suspect(s) later intentionally ignited the vehicle. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Northeast Regional Office at 410-836-4844.
Five firefighters from the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company responded and had the fire under control within 5 minutes.
The Office of the State Fire Marshal estimated the fire caused $25,000 in damage. There were no injuries reported.

It doesn’t take Sherlock Holmes to deduce that they could trace the owner of the truck by the license plates or VIN, if the plates are missing. Once you know the owner, you should be able to determine who was driving it or if it was stolen.
