From the Office of Congressman Andy Harris:
WASHINGTON, DC: This week, Congressman Andy Harris (MD-01) introduced the Federal Immigration Law Compliance Act of 2016 (FILCA) in the House, with co-sponsors from California to New York to Florida. FILCA requires any entity receiving federal funds, including institutions of higher learning, to comply with all lawful requests made by federal immigration enforcement authorities. Should the entity refuse to comply with federal immigration enforcement requests that entity will be subject to a withholding of all federal funding.
“Congress has the responsibility to protect the rule of law in our country and provide for the safety of our citizens. We need to focus on protecting American citizens and those who are in this country legally, instead of providing shelter for those who have violated our immigration law and entered this country illegally. If any entity refuses to comply with federal immigration law, they should be denied federal money until they come into compliance,” said Congressman Harris.
FILCA also explicitly authorizes federal immigration authorities to make requests for information regarding illegal immigrants of any institution or entity receiving federal funds. Additionally, in the case of state or local law enforcement in custody of an illegal alien, the bill explicitly authorizes federal officials to request that the state or local authority retain custody until the federal authorities can assume custody of that illegal alien.
“The American people have spoken loudly in this past election that they want federal immigration law enforced,” added Congressman Harris.

Yeah, I think we should give them a chance, this soon to be great again (get it?) country was built on immigration.

We can have one of two things either a welfare system or immigration system that lets anyone in. They cannot coexist. You are right that we are built on immigrants, but it used to be that immigrants had to assimilate into society and could not merely sit back and get taxpayer funded goodies.

Study your history. Why did little towns in Upstate New York speak German as a first language as late as 1915? I think your crap is a bunch of we hate non-european immagriant propaganda.

European, Asian, Australian, African, Anti-arctican, South American, or North American immigrants…if they are here illegally, what does it matter where they came from?

Frank, So now it’s a Christian virtue to encourage people to illegally cross our borders, give them welfare, health care and education with no worries that they will be sent back home when they get caught?
I’m sorry, can you show me where to find that concept in the Bible?
Part of II Thessalonians 3:12 in the Bible reads “if a man does not work, he shall not eat.”
Part of work is working according to the rules, and the rules of this and every single other nation on earth is that to be a citizen, and to expect the rights thereof, you need to be in the country legally.
I support Congressman Harris and anyone else who wants to rid our nation of illegal immigrants. However, I also support a program of legal, registered guest workers who come here on a migrant basis, register and work for a specified amount of time after which they leave. Any foreigner found to be without registration is immediately deported and prevented from ever returning.
And, it’s not your job to decide where someone spends eternity.

S- it would be helpful if you would read the article before making a fool of yourself. Nothing in Andys bill would stop illegals from entering this country, Not 1 thing. It is more of Andys do nothing legislation.
Andy works 5 months out of the year and makes over $200,000, free healthcare and a salary for life and this is what we get from him. He really is an embarrassment for the state of Maryland.
Local Authority says
Screw what the bible says “S”. I could quote SO many passages that makes it sound like a directory on how to torture and/or repress individuals for doing things that are perfectly legal. Get a life of reality and worry about the laws of our country (not what the “good book” spews).

Andy is a God fearing life long devout Catholic who believes in church first, but you knew that already didn’t you……

We need to prevent people from entering our country illegally, by securing our borders. The rhetoric and meaningless legislation continues ad nauseum, and nothing happens. Congress must cooperate with our new President in finding a way to control the influx of illegals.

We have US veterans who served this country who are homeless. We have 100 yr old watermains ready to explode and take billions to fix, our inner cities are shamefully broken, pay for police…etc is stagnant. Illegals push the wage curve down, consume taxpayer resources, bring tuberculosis, which at one point was effectively gone. Tell me again why we need 20 million more? Oh, because my great grandaddy came over from _________!
Dumb ass liberals trying to ruin and bankrupt this awesome country because of their pathetic moral narcissism. Fix this country 1st clowns

Hello dipshit, the 1%er need the illegals they aren’t going nowhere.
