Governor Larry Hogan today announced the appointments of Charles H. Dorsey, III, John S. Nugent, and Jennifer B. Schiffer to the Baltimore City Circuit Court; William R. Greer, Jr. to the Charles County Circuit Court; Paul W. Ishak to the Harford County Circuit Court; and Judge Tiffany Hanna Anderson, Judge Robin Dana Gill Bright, and William A. Snoddy to the Prince George’s County Circuit Court. The governor made the appointments after reviewing submissions from judicial nominating commissions.
“After conducting a thorough vetting process, I am confident that these distinguished jurists are the most qualified candidates to fill these circuit court vacancies,” said Governor Hogan. “Throughout their legal careers, they have exhibited sound judgement, integrity, and a strong commitment to justice. I offer my sincere congratulations and best wishes.”
Charles H. Dorsey, III is currently a deputy public defender for the state, where he has served since his appointment in 2009. He has practiced law in Maryland for 22 years and has tried hundreds of cases representing individuals in juvenile district and circuit court matters. Mr. Dorsey received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and his J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law.
John S. Nugent is the principal counsel to the Health Occupations Prosecution and Litigation Division at the Maryland Office of the Attorney General, where he serves as chief counsel to a 22-person division that is responsible for disciplinary cases involving health care professions. Mr. Nugent received his bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania State University and his J.D. from Penn State’s Dickinson Law.
Jennifer B. Schiffer is chief of the Violent Crimes Division within the Baltimore County State’s Attorney’s Office, where she is responsible for supervising the prosecution for all non-fatal stabbings and shootings in the jurisdiction. Ms. Schiffer received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and her J.D. from the American University, Washington College of Law.
William Greer, Jr. is a partner at the Greer Law Firm in La Plata where he represents individuals and businesses in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. He has also served in the Maryland National Guard for the past 29 years, and is currently a Colonel and Commander of the 58th Troop Command/Joint Task Force Maryland. Mr. Greer received his bachelor’s degree from Washington and Lee University and his J.D. from the College of William and Mary, Marshall-Wythe School of Law.
Paul Ishak is a partner at Stark and Keenan, where he represents individuals and small businesses. He clerked for Judge Stephen M. Waldron of the Circuit Court for Harford County. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland, College Park and his J.D. from Rutgers School of Law.
The Honorable Tiffany Anderson is currently a judge on the District Court for Prince George’s County, where she has served since 2008. Prior to her appointment, Judge Anderson was a partner at Funk & Bolton, P.A. Judge Anderson received her bachelor’s degree from the University of California, San Diego and her J.D. from the Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law.
The Honorable Robin Gill Bright is a judge on the District Court for Prince George’s County, where she has served since 2012. Before her appointment, she served as the assistant county attorney for the Prince George’s County Office of Law. Judge Bright holds a bachelor’s degree from Niagara University, a master’s degree in Administrative Management from Bowie State, and received her J.D. from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law.
William Snoddy is currently the deputy county attorney for the Prince George’s County Office of Law. He has focused on civil litigation representing local governments and their employees. Mr. Snoddy received his bachelor’s degree from Howard University and his J.D. from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
He should be investigated when he represented both parties in the lighthouse property sale.
Once again a political move. He was aware of his appointment weeks ago. The other candidates didn’t have a chance. A Crook it system.
