Suicidal Man Shoots Himself in Parking Lot of Aberdeen Walmart

From the Aberdeen Police Office:

On Thursday, September 15, 2016 at approximately 7:50 PM, officers from the Aberdeen Police Department responded to Walmart, located at 645 South Philadelphia Boulevard, for a report of a suicidal man in a vehicle.

Officers arrived and quickly located the suicidal man, 29, seated in a parked vehicle on the lot. Officers had information that the suicidal man was armed with a handgun. Officers attempted to create a dialogue with the individual. The man did not respond to officers commands. A perimeter was established to ensure the safety of store patrons and the Crisis Negotiation Team was summoned to the scene.

After failing to establish communication with the individual, members of the Harford County Municipal SWAT Team approached the man’s vehicle. They quickly determined the man had sustained head trauma. Officers took immediate action to provide medical attention; however, the individual was already deceased.

Crime scene investigators determined the man sustained a single self-inflicted gunshot wound. The male was transported to the Office of the State Medical Examiner for further examination.
