A Street home destroyed by fire and suffered extenive water damage on Saturday morning after a fire sparked in the attic.
Just after 6 a.m. on Saturday, emergency personnel were dispatched to the 3300 block of Ady Road in Street for the report of a fire in a two-story, single family dwelling.
The fire was discovered by a passerby and appeared to have originated in the attic of the home. A preliminary cause is still under investigation.
Forty-five firefighters from the Darlington Volunteer Fire Company responded to the 4-alarm blaze and had it under control within an hour. Multiple Harford County and surrounding area fire departments assisted.
The fire was primarily contained to the attic with extensive water damage throughout the remainder of the home. The owners were out of town at the time of the fire. A total of four Deputy State Fire Marshals responded along with K9 “Kachina”.
The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal estimated the fire caused $250,000 in damage to the structure and another $250,000 in damage to it contents. No injuries were reported.

Several times this week All volunteer fire companies have attempted to provide fire protection to our community’s. This isn’t a knock on the effort of that rather an honest discussion about the shortcomings. For the industry lane bouncy fire- dispatch waited to make it a working fire assignment until they were asked about it. What about “heavy smoke showing” didn’t they get? As for the 543 and 440 fire the northern part of the county is severely understaffed by all volunteers. Guys and girls that staff farms and have other jobs. This county is more worried about each company and what politics decides to dictate. Each chief gets to pick their box assignments. Let’s grow up and work together and we won’t have this problem. Sad reality that I even need to post this but it’s the truth. Please with facts attempt to dispute this. The EOC and all Volly companies in this county are a mess. We all are in this together why not work together to fix it???????

Making it a “working fire” is policy change, make it happen. I agree with you on facts, so what are the real staffing numbers on the Whiteford fire?

Not sure what you mean by trying to stir things up. I believe whoever it is isn’t an imposter, I truly do. I also believe they asked us to dispute if anything they said is false and I can’t, can you? Until then I support whoever this is from Bel Air that is willing to speak up. This isn’t a game or joke. Peoples lives depend on us. Sorry you are butthurt but I’m good with it.
