From the Board of Directors of the Harford County Farm Fair, Inc.:
Welcome to the 29th Annual Farm Fair!
The 29th Annual Harford County Farm Fair will be held from Thursday, July 28 through Sunday, July 31, 2016. Since the first Harford County Farm Fair was held in 1988, this annual event has been held at the Harford County Equestrian Center, which is publicly owned by the Harford County Government and is part of the Heavenly Waters Park administered by the County Department of Parks and Recreation and the volunteer Equestrian Center Recreation Council.
The mission of the Harford County Farm Fair is to promote Harford County’s agricultural heritage and encourage youth involvement in agricultural activities, particularly through 4-H, FFA, and the Ag Magnet Program in Harford County Public Schools. We provide educational displays showing how agriculture is a part of our daily lives and about the conservation of natural resources.
Our theme for 2016 is “Home Grown” and is depicted with our interpretive logo that uses a blue ribbon to represent not only the award-winning products of our farms and gardens but the dedication of the people who were born, live, and work in Harford County – especially our law enforcement personnel.
The Farm Fair begins on Thursday, July 28 at 7:30 a.m. with the Prayer Breakfast. From opening on Thursday morning until closing on Sunday evening, the Farm Fair offers something for everyone to enjoy! There will be Carnival rides every day, and Kidway will again offer an amazing variety of games, entertainment, and activities for children, including a Straw Maze and inflatables like the Moon Bounce. There will be Racing Pigs and Climbing Goats. Appearing under the lights on Thursday evening will be the 3S Bucking Bulls Rodeo. The Lucas Oil Truck and Tractor Pulls roar into action on both Friday and Saturday evenings, and the Antique Tractor Pull will be held on Sunday.
The Farm Fair allows local residents to exhibit their home-grown vegetables and agricultural products, baked goods, crafts and needlework, photographs and artwork. We provide the opportunity for all ages to compete in pie and watermelon eating and a Spelling Bee. There are contests for Farm Babies and for Miss Harford County Farm Bureau. The Farm Fair Talent Contest and the entertainment stage will feature a variety of local performers. The Artisan’s Village, with displays and demonstrations provided by various artists and crafters and the Master Gardeners, is bigger and better this year. Be sure to check out the Buy Local! Eat Local! Showcase on Sunday, along with the Seasonal Sensations Culinary Competition and the “Fresh Baked” Peach Pie Contest. There are many ways for Harford Countians to share their skills and talents!
The Harford County Farm Fair Board of Directors wishes to thank the many, many volunteers, corporate sponsors, participating vendors, and especially Harford County Government for their enthusiastic support and encouragement over the years. We also thank all the exhibitors, performers, superintendents, judges, and supporters who share their time and energy to make the Farm Fair happen. It is because of our dedicated volunteers and sponsors that we are able to continue to provide such a successful and family-oriented community event.
We invite you to attend and enjoy the 29th Annual Harford County Farm Fair and celebrate with us the outstanding achievements of the agricultural community.
Sincerely,
The Board of Directors of the Harford County Farm Fair, Inc.
