From the Aberdeen IronBirds:
As the second half of the season gets underway, Minor League Baseball and Esurance today unveiled the first annual Esurance Home Field Advantage Award. One Minor League Baseball team in each of the 14 leagues will receive the award based on the highest percentage capacity of the ballpark during the 2016 season.
Aberdeen IronBirds fans are encouraged to continue to support the IronBirds in this friendly competition by attending games in the home stretch of the regular season. The winning teams will be announced in September and honored at the 2016 Baseball Winter Meetings™ in National Harbor, Maryland, this December. A celebration for the hometown fans of each winning team will also take place at their respective ballparks at the start of the 2017 season.
“Our number one priority as an organization is to always provide our fans with memorable experiences at Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium,” said Brad Cox, Aberdeen IronBirds assistant general manager. “When the fans are engaged, their energy is felt by the team, and together, we create an exciting atmosphere both on and off the field. We have some of the best fans in league. Their presence at the ballpark serves as a huge contributor in bringing home this deserving award…for them, the fans!”
The IronBirds’s promotional calendar is packed with fun-filled events to entertain every kind of fan. This week the IronBirds return home for a three-game series against the Mahoning Valley Scrappers. On July 28, IronBirds fans can celebrate the holiday’s early with Christmas in July featuring a pregame performance by country music singer, Matt Stillwell. The first 1,200 women will receive an IronBirds wristlet on Women in Business Night on July 29, capped off by the best fireworks on Friday and Saturday night.
