Joe White says
It is so difficult to get in and out of the Constant Friendship shopping area now on holidays and busy weekends, I can’t imagine how much worse it could get with a larger WalMart. There is only one way in and out of the area. If there is a major fire or rescue there, it could be tragic. I try to avoid it those times.
Seriously? says
That argument didn’t fly when they built senior housing behind Target. There is still more ground down by BJ’s that can be developed as well.
none says
That’s not senior housing, it’s Section 8 housing to move the residents from Ghettowood into while they renovate that area.
Dg58570 says
Just think of the time and money that could have been saved if they had only done this to begin with.
Joe Logic says
Yeah, if only they didn’t waste time trying to develop land for a store where land is supposed to be developed for stores, in an area that was rezoned to allow a store like Walmart at the request of the local residents!
Seriously? says
Actually not true. They wanted something like the avenue instead of housing. Harford County doesn’t separate out superstores from other types. The Walmart was listed as a grocery store and a superstore is a lot larger than a grocery.
Joe Logic says
Which part of my comment is not true? The area was rezoned at the request of the residents. The new zoning allows a store like Walmart. I don’t care about what they now say they really wanted; they got what they asked for and were happy when it happened.
none says
Joe you are so right. Maybe it would work out better for all concerned to just let them build the new store on 924.
Bil says
Can you do me a favor and take out panda express when you expand at Constant Friendship. Whoever thinks that mess is real chinese food is insane! Nasty
Ignorant and Rude Citizen says
How about a community meeting what do about all these assholes walking out in traffic and the increase of trespassing calls over some sort of Pokemon game?
frank says
Wal Mart is trolling SHA and the county council. They should have never done what they did to stop the Hal Dahan estate deal. Capt Jim and his buddies are going to need to walk a straight line making sure the old site is held to the same standards as the plumtree site was.
This should be very interesting
D says
The estate didn’t renew the contingent option for Walmart to buy the property when the deal wasn’t completed in the contracted time. The estate wanted to divest of the property so they moved on. And yes, if the traffic study doesn’t work and the intersections are adversely impacted as per the statutes then the project will need to be revised and rethought. If Walmart expands and it requires road changes then they will have to pay for them here just as did when they built the Fallston store.
Walmart has been golfing, dining, and donating the politicians in Bel Air and Annapolis for years (decades?). A large reason there was an overpass put in at Tollgate/24/924 at the approximate cost of $26 million was because of “Walmart’s constant whining” to David Craig’s administration according to Aaron, his Chief of Staff. The fact that Walmart has already caused the state to spend this amount of money (that’s our money) is what I find to be very interesting.
I think this expansion is going to move through as quickly as the apartments and the most recent pad site did.
JZ says
As part of the expansion all tenants of the shopping area, should jointly fund another roadway entry, exit to the area..
Seriously? says
Where is the question. No 24 access
Arturro Nasney says
Quite simple really! The stakeholders should be required to build a bridge over 95 and connect with 40 around Van Bibber. One way in and one way out was short sighted when the project began 30 years ago. It hasn’t gotten any better since.
none says
Blame all those people that fought against the proposed shopping mall back in the 80’s. I was going to have direct access from I95.
Seriously? says
Will be interesting to see if everything that was in the 924 plan is in this one. Like auto center, food, etc.
