From Harford County Councilman “Capt’n” Jim McMahan:
TO ALL CONCERNED
To let you know that a CIM has been planned for Thursday July 21 2016 at 6:30 PM at the Richlin Ballroom to discuss the expansion of the Walmart at its present site.
Seems like I heard a chorus or two telling them to consider that a year or so ago.
Hope you will turn out and let them know they heard your voice(s).
Capt’n Jim
Councilman Dist “C”
Cohagen says
That whole area sucks ass. 20 years ago it was nice.
Now that everyone and their mother has to live in Edgewood North, or is “Bel Air South”? Driving around in their brand new, 2016 hot-hot sedan with their turned up nose, brushing their shoulder as they drive their kids in a backup to eat a chickum’sammich.
Enjoy living in your low quality, $350,000 waste of money on 1/16th of acre.
Mike says
WOW is all that I can say! A lot of pent up anger.
Cohagen says
I’m not angry at all. Truth?
Please, continue driving down the road while “texting” or “hashbrown/hashtag/pound symbol” whatever the lingo is on your phone.
Hedley Lamarr says
The most dangerous drivers are the women driving the worst vehicles ever invented, MINI VANS with stick figures on rear window along with my kid is a honor student, they are always in a hurry to get nowhere. The attitude is “I’M important, have to get the brats to practice so get out of my way and I don’t need to follow any traffic laws”. By the way, I for one don’t care about your stick figures or my kid is a honor student or Again, Again, Again sht stickers, Don’t give a F about any of the garbage.
Hal says
I live in a very nice quiet part of Edgewood and don’t have to worry about traffic, I take my business to White Marsh! So I guess if Abingdon is Edgewood North, I’ll just take that as some uninformed comment from someone who is waiting for mommy to finish cooking his dinner for him. Love how folks try to talk smack on Edgewood but talk out of both sides of thier butt without knowing the facts.
Al says
Facts? lol
Crime is everywhere but show me where Edgewood is a place to raise a family. Come on man, get real.
It’s not Mogadishu, but violent crime always gets headlines in the Route 40 corridor and less frequently elsewhere in the county.
It can’t be family unit, religion, integrity, ethics, and employment keeping the rest of Harford County residents out of the detention center processing room. Nope, can’t be.
The Money Tree says
I’m struck with a touch of amusement having heard from the Wal-Mart reps themselves how they had to have this other space because it was impossible to expand where they are. Presto-chango…they want to expand where they are.
Reality says
Going to be interesting. The County and highways better hold any expansion to the same metrics used at the Plumtree site. Otherwise there is a huge law suit liability on the horizon. WalMart and their lawyers are not stupid. this is a continuing game of chess.
Cdev says
What is the capt involved. The current sight is not in district c. His voters should keep their nose out of another districts buisness. That’s what they told the rest of us!
Duh says
I’m sure the capt will step back just like he asked everyone not directly affected.
Hazzard County Drivers says
Going to be hilarious watching all the piss poor impatient Harford County nutbag drivers wreck into each other
I was just at beards hill an hour ago and watched cars change lane 2-3 times 300 feet or so from the traffic light
Some jackass sped around me and then turned back in my lane only to stop at the traffic light.
Harford resident says
If you think drivers are crazy around here, I can guess you’ve never driven in NJ.
Karen says
Didn’t the area of WalMart a few Christmas’s ago lock up for hours because of traffic? And now there are new apartment’s and additional stores. Is the county going to make WalMart widen 95?
RTFU says
It’s not so much affecting I-95. The issue with that area is that Constant Friendship Boulevard cannot handle the current (or future) amount of traffic. The construction they did recently, to add the underpass / overpass for Route 24 in that area was piss-poor-planning and abysmal Civil Engineering.
Traffic is commonly backed-up along Tollgate into the Constant Friendship neighborhood, because the brilliant powers didn’t think to add a Right-Turn Lane at the Tollgate / CF Blvd intersection. The traffic lights there are timed somewhat odd too.
You are correct, though. During holidays, that area can take you a good 45 minutes to get out of if you are back at BJ’s or the Movie Theater. Now that the apartments are opened, along with the newly opened Panda Express, traffic is sure to get even worse.
From what I read on the County website, the input meetings seemed to fall on deaf ears. The elected officials and traffic planners pretty much seemed to have an attitude of, “What the hell do you know, homeowner in the area, we know it better…this is how it’s getting done.”
From what I see now, and I am not a Civil Engineer, there is no way to add additional lanes or ease congestion in that area…unless – by some small miracle – they configure Constant Friendship Boulevard to exit directly onto the on-ramp to 95…but then you would have issues with that as well.
No win situation! I foresee my dollars going up the highway to Delaware for Christmas and school shopping.

Regarding the quality of driving comments, I find this particularly interesting, especially as I was involved in a hit and run accident last evening on Rt 40 in Belcamp. The driver pulled over briefly after i followed him w my high beams. The drivers who witnessed this just drove on by. The driver was a white male in his late 20’s driving a light colored Toyota. He refused to gove me his info and when i said i was going to call the police he postured towards me as if he was going to assault me. I ran to the back of my car and tried to wave down a motorist who d i dnt stop. Thos guy jumped in his car and sped away. I have missed work today due to muscle aches and pains. My car has substantial damage and this jerk gets away. The jerks who drove on by–this may one day be your mother, sister, daughter or wife. God help us as a civil society.

By the way, this happened around 9:30 pm and the drivers side will probably have red paint from my car along its left side. If you know anything about this incident or know the whereabouts of the individual, please let the state police know. Trust me, this wasn’t a lady in a mini van.
RTFU says
You should have immediately called 9-1-1 as you were following him. Get the license plate – ALWAYS!
Hope you feel better, hit and runs are just pitiful and show the common lack of respect that many drivers have nowadays.
Miss Gulch says
RTFU, you are absolutely right about calling 911. That was the one time i forgot to take my phone w me and didnt think much of it as i was only going to the store and back. I guess i was initially startled when broadsided at 50 mph and then remembered i had recently signed up for On Star. They were great and i would highly recommend as a back-up. There was a couple at the nearby 7-11 who stayed w me until help came. I would like to thank them again.
A Realist says
That’s crazy!!! But not surprising to hear. Hope you feel better. I’ll keep my eyes out for this car,I’m a tech and know a lot of people in the field.
Home run Hotrod says
Unfortunately the person who hit you won’t be found. Since you have no license plate, a car matching description would have to be seen quick and the chances dwindle the longer time passes. Your incident could be made into Police report but not much will ever be done.
Generally speaking, most of the public don’t “see” this kind of stuff either. It’s the way society is now, that peoole dont want to help the common man anymore because they might be called to court as a witness or some other involved circumstance.
The hit and run driver could have had suspended license, suspended tags, no insurance, DUI, drug contraband, active warrant so if any of the above was true, it was cheaper for him at time of incident to just leave.
Combined with “no question asked” body shops who like to see money other than “looks like you hit a car”
Miss Gulch says
I was able to get his license plate:
HPH652 MD plate
Toyota corolla
Light color
Home run Hotrod says
Then forward your information along to the authorities, with the tag.
I’m not sure how this would be handled, a day after the fact with just property damage. I know you said you don’t feel well but since you were not injured needing EMS at time of incident I doubt it falls into the “Hit and run with bodily injury” category and the priority of finding the suspect much greater.
You could use civil action, but your lawyer will probably tell you are going to pay more expense in court than its worth, and if/ you’d win a judgement good luck trying to collect against someone who appears to be a dirt bag, and wage garnishment doesn’t work if the fool doesn’t even have a job.
It’s such a shame and I feel for you in your crappy situation.
SadAboutOurSociety says
Miss Gulch, under your insurance coverage, you may be compensated for property damage, car rental, personal injury, etc. under the “uninsured motorist” section which every driver must have. You need only pay your deductible. My husband experienced the same thing a few weeks ago. When driving home from work, a car slammed into the back of him while he was stopped. That POS did not even stop. Neither did any other vehicle who had to have seen something. My husband sat on the side of the road waiting for the police when it was hot as crap out looking at his bumper and other stuff just hanging off. It’s truly sad these days…on the roads…on the news. Good luck and I hope you feel better.
Miss Gulch says
Thanks everyone for your support. @ Sad about our society, Im sorry about your husband’s experience. Being hit out of nowhere is a terrifying experience. The really scary thing is that these people have no regard for anyone but themselves. I am so grateful that no one was in the passenger side of my vehicle. Yes, I’ll have to pay my own deductble but it is money I don’t have. And my insurance rate could increase. I guess things could always have been worse. Take care all and be safe out on the road.
