“Young Adventurers Read!” Program for Youth Offered at Havre de Grace Library on June 25

From the Harford County Public Library:

“Young Adventurers Read!,” a program for youth in grades six to nine and featuring authors and a costume contest, takes place Saturday, June 25, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Havre de Grace Library.

The program focuses on the book “Young Adventurers: Heroes, Explorers & Swashbucklers,” an anthology that features 17 tales of teens saving the day in the past, the present, the future and in other worlds.

Program participants are invited to come dressed as their favorite young adventurer. Prizes for the best-costumed male and best-costumed female will receive a $25 Amazon gift card.

Another feature of the afternoon is an author panel, with a discussion about writing and using imagination to venture into the unknown. Speakers include the editor of “Young Adventurers: Heroes, Explorers & Swashbucklers,” Austin Camacho, also a mystery author; Amy Kaplan, flash fiction and short story writer; and Jack Mulcahy, a pulp fiction writer. Each contributed stories to the book, which will be available for purchase and signing.
