From Maryland State Police:
On June 20, 2016 at approximately 8 pm, TFC Burton #6039 of the Maryland State Police JFK Highway Barrack initiated a traffic stop on a white Ford Transit U-haul van on the N/B Exit ramp from I-95 to S/B MD 279, Cecil County MD, for a traffic violation. Upon contact TFC Burton observed a host of criminal indicators depicting criminal activity and conducted a K9 Scan with his K9 partner “Rocky” on the vehicle, resulting in a positive alert.
A search of the vehicle resulted in a large quantity of Marijuana (approximately 938 lbs.) located in the cargo area of the van. Two males, Baojie Chen 23 and Da Fen Xiong 23 both from Philadelphia, PA, were arrested and transported to the JFK Highway Barracks for processing. Both are being charged and will be taken before the Cecil County District Court Commissioner.
Charges:
1. Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, Marijuana.
2. Possession of Marijuana in the amount of 50 lbs. or more.
3. Possession of a Controlled Dangerous substance, Marijuana, in sufficient quantity to indicate an intent to distribute.
4. Unlawful bringing into this state at least 45 Kilograms of Marijuana, a Controlled Dangerous Substance of Schedule I.
Well that sucks
That is quite a bit of pot
Those boys must have really severe cases of glaucoma to need that much pot on their trip!
Well, I guess I’d better go to Plan B.
MSP, thanks and keep up the good work.
The most dangerous thing about pot is getting caught with it.
Looks like some 4th of July parties are going to be called on the account of nothing but beer to party with.
While the reaction and actions of TFC Burton are a credit to his training and execution of his duties, it’s a shame that it is wasted on a few pounds of marijuana.
