Tell me says
Who’s fault is this? I know it isn’t the shooter’s or victims’ fault. If only we could pass some comprehensive gun banning.
UncommomSense says
Your candor and sarcasm is noted.
The fault is on the person who committed the crime, whether they were previously prohibited of firearm possession or was a “law abiding citizen” with lawfully possessed firearms is unknown.
What we do know is that less firearms equals less chance for them to fall into the wrong hands, and be used in criminal acts.
Paul Harvey says
When will we know the rest of the story? Almost everything happens for a reason. 10:1 Democrats were both the victims and the assailants.
UncommomSense says
From “your cold dead hands” huh?
You’ll be crying all the way to the detention center when you’re getting arrested for illegal possession of firearms.
Real says
Your a Damn fool uncommon sense….less guns huh..so we can be sheep.. Do you really think that by law abiding citizens giving up their guns the killings with guns will stop…NO it won’t….youll have more home invasions people getting killed in their own houses….your plain dumb. I have friends in the UK over there they are unarmed and have home invasions all the time….the criminals have more rights then the people do. You’re not even allowed to fight home invaders….they want that shit here in the US… It’s men’s nature to fight. You can kill someone with your bare hands, cars, silverware, TO think that violence will end with guns is just stupid….Mankind has been killing man since Cain and Abel….It’s in our blood. But the difference is that there are people that willing defend us and our rights so that stupid people like you can lawfully endanger us with your liberal overstep.
Little-Brown Handbook says
“But the difference is that there are people that willing defend us and our rights so that stupid people like you can lawfully endanger us with your liberal overstep.”
Why don’t you get back to us when you learn to write coherently?
S says
Uncommon,
When you figure out a way to unmake something that has already been made, be sure to let us know, until then, your argument is futile.
UncommomSense says
Doesn’t matter if it’s bad logic, futile et al.
With these “mass shootings” that keep occurring, the political will to ban classes of firearms will be too mighty for any activist groups to overcome.
You know it, I know it. Non law enforcement and military duty possession of certain firearms is coming to an end in the next 10 years.
can spot'em says
So by the logic you are employing… when possession of certain types of firearms, or all for that matter, becomes illegal; and thus stop falling into the ‘wrong’ hands – mass murders will decrease? Tell me please… did the barbarians unleash havoc on Europe with or without firearms? Did Cain slay Abel with a firearm?
Do bows and arrows come next? Knives? Clubs? Bats? Rocks? Fists?
The problem with viewing firearms, or even viewing them exclusively in the eyes of the ‘wrong people’ is looking at the wrong part of the problem. Crime is committed in the intent of the actor, not the tool used.
Disarming the public serves, really, only one function: subjugation. It is the tool of tyrants the world over. That is a simple and inconvenient truth you really cannot deny if you are honest. Gun control would not have saved Europe from the barbarians.
If the anti-gun crowd would invest one-tenth of their energy and money into identifying, treating and working with the potentially lethal elements of our society; I sense there would be a great deal of prevention. For example, locking up criminals who use violence in their crimes for life – no parole ever. As long as people know their misdeeds will only be interrupted for a brief time; guess what? Yeah, you know it…
By the way… I don’t own an AR15 or any other firearm capable of mass killing. I do own firearms for hunting, but the 2nd Amendment was not adopted for hunters. It was adopted to control the state. That is not even a matter for debate.
Oh, and I do have many rocks in my yard. Having access to that many rocks does not encourage me to use them against people… evil intentions would. If you cannot see the difference, honestly, I don’t know what to say.
UncommomSense says
Absolutely. Without AR15 variants rifles, the would be criminal will not be able to acquire one.
What’s a would be criminal? Perhaps someone law abiding yesterday, but not today.
No one knows what the 2nd Amendment applies to because each state treats it different. Feel free to get a Supreme Court ruling on any second Amendment issues, I’m sure the Republicant’s are afraid of that considering just about every ruling is now geared towards protecting public safety and some guy able to cash/carry an AR15 isn’t public safety.
Again, I’ll wait for the courts to tell me anyone can carry a firearm in public and that strict scrutiny has to be applied to banning AR15s.
Again. I’ll wait.
can spot'em says
What about the next weapon of choice?
UncommomSense says
Which is what?
Take a look at Australia. We need to model firearm ownership similar like they do. Single shot, breech loading long arms.
Id like to see any long arm with a detachable magazine or tube loading banned is a good start.
Real says
You can’t cash an carry in almost all States of an Ar15 stupid.
Minion says
“Absolutely. Without AR15 variants rifles, the would be criminal will not be able to acquire one.”
And without heroin, the would be ODer would not be able to acquire any.
Real says
It’s not your right to dictate who can own firearms or which ones we can have….What about this right shall not be infringed upon do you not understand. Oh unless you have friends in Australia then you need to shut up….I do….and it’s a lot like the UK where criminals and Orwellian government rule.
UncommomSense says
It’s not my right at all. The Courts are doing that for the greater good of public health and safety.
Again, I’ll come back here and admit defeat when the courts rule otherwise.
Helle ruling just said you can’t just ban hand guns out right,. But made no mention strict licensing, banning AR15s, etc.
I’ll wait
can spot'em says
Compare us to Australia? You mean where the rate of assault is growing 4 times the rate of the population? That Australia? You call that progress on any level?
You are right, no more than 5 people have been assaulted at any one time, but many more times that are being hurt in more numerous, smaller body count attacks. I guess that is an improvement.
In other words, they disarmed and are no safer for it. What do you have to say?
And please stop that pat answer of just sitting back and letting the courts tell you what to think… we don’t need this sort of ignorance. I’ll shock you one… you are part of the sovereignty of this land… the power is from the governed, not the government.
Little-Brown Handbook says
“You can’t cash an carry in almost all States of an Ar15 stupid.”
What exactly is an “Ar15 stupid”? I know what an AR15 is, but I’ve never heard of an “Ar15 Stupid”. Is that a variation of the standard AR15?
And what is “cash an carry”? Never heard of that.
Do your friends in Australia speak English, or do they speak the same language you do?
UncommomSense says
Cash and carry is slang for filling out a Federal Form 4473, paying cash and being able to leave with the firearm once your background is done.
Since Maryland has no more “regulated” long guns, every used rifle/shotgun can also be sold between residents outside a gun shop, literally, paying cash then handing over the gun like any other used product you sell to someone, totally lawful.
Little-Brown Handbook says
I know what “cash AND carry is”, I just didn’t know what “cash AN carry” was.
UncommomSense says
It looks like I made a bunch of typos.
Welcome to the Internet.
UncommomSense says
Heck, an AR15 “HBAR” is cash/carry in this state. Just a federal form at the gun shop and you take it home, or between MD residents with neither being prohibited to owning guns.
Who’s stupid, now?
Real says
No it’s not there a back ground check and 30 day waiting period…you have no idea of the new laws in Maryland fool….
Real says
My brother had one in the 90s and it wasn’t cash an carry then stupid…that was during the Clinton years….It’s a lot harder now.
Real says
Oh and your previous comment of no one knows what the 2nd amendment means is crap….after the war of 1812 the Senate met and discussed what it was about and decided the people are the militia and that we were the last line of defense for our nation….If you look up document from the library of Congress then you’ll see it. Fact served.
UncommomSense says
You should really research Maryland law yourself. HBAR AR15s have no “waiting” period.
Go to any Maryland gun shop yourself and ask.
Handguns require an HQL and the same 7 day wait/MSP paperwork.
I’ll wait.
st8trooper says
Uncommon is correct. No waiting period.
Handguns require qualification, licensing and your standard 7-day waiting period.
Stop arguing nonsense. People will always be permitted to possess firearms in on form or another.
Stop being blind. Criminals will always have access to guns, regardless if they obtained them “legally” or not. Because, you know, criminals are big on that waiting period.
UncommomSense says
But wouldn’t it be a less hassle for a state trooper to see a firearm, and make an arrest?
Rather than try and figure out if the guy is really going to or from the bank, or a real estate agent is actually going to a house showing… you know, those carry permit restrictions, you can just make an arrest.
No matter what,I know my Police friends would NOT want more guns on people’s person, to include a shall issue carry scheme in this state
Little-Brown Handbook says
“No it’s not there a back ground check and 30 day waiting period”
What’s not there? You said “No it’s not there” but never said what wasn’t there. What wasn’t there? The suspense is killing me…
So what you are saying is that according to the senate after the War of 1812, that if our tanks and bombers and jet fighters and Navy Seals, and Marine Corps and missile defense systems, and nuclear weapons fail to keep our enemies at bay, then people like yourself and Jim Bob and Bubba Jones will be looked upon to preserve our nation with their shotguns and pistols?
Seems legit.
Real says
I was wrong it’s a 7day wait period .
Kk says
I bet if people in Orlando had guns TO PROTECT THEMSELVES there wouldn’t have been nearly as many killed n injured… if we all had guns there would be less mass shootings because there would be MORE people able n ready to defend us all in the event we found ourselves in a situation like that… just a thought…
none says
The gheys in Orlando didn’t need a gun, they were in a gun free zone.
A Realist says
How about we just put our thoughts and prayers to ALL these families that lost a loved one…
Reality says
“Thoughts and prayers” is acting like you are doing something while actually doing nothing.
Invisible Man says
Too late. If there is a god that had an ounce of concern for these families, he would have stopped their loved ones from being killed in the first place. I’m sure most of the families would have preferred that to having “thoughts and prayers” from unknown strangers.
Tell me says
This is a 2 prong issue and the right want to focus only on one and the left only wants to focus on the other. Guns kill people vs. people kill people.
Prong 1: We can call it sociological/ideolgical factors (need, immorality, gang banging, radicalization, mental illness, etc) or whatever reasons cause the people to kill people
Prong 2: Gun control
Until these are both addressed in some way, this is just going to keep on happening. Clearly the gun laws aren’t working to keep weapons out of the hands of nefarious people, and our systems aren’t capable of figuring out who is “nefarious”!
How ever we are going about it doesn’t work.
Obama's son says
The big question is Why were these two people not in jail? Reading their rap sheets looks like no big loss.
A Realist says
So because someone has a rap sheet means they should die?!?!?
Also a realist says
No, but it does mean that they have a poor history of decision making and risk management.
The decisions that people make every day affect the outcomes of their lives. This includes who you hang out with, and what you do with your time. It’s really not a surprise what comes next for almost anyone. ( Applies equally to success and failure, by the way. )
