From Harford Community College:
Local officials, business leaders, Harford Community College employees, friends and family came together to wish Dr. Dennis Golladay, President of HCC, a fond farewell on May 18 at The Vandiver Inn in Havre de Grace. After an accomplished career in higher education that spanned more than four decades, Dr. Golladay will retire on July 31.
Brenda Morrison, Vice President for External Relations and Human Resources, and Bryan Kelly, former Chair of the HCC Board of Trustees and manager/owner of The Kelly Group, gave tributes to the outgoing president.
“I am grateful for Dr. Golladay’s leadership over the last six years,” said Brenda Morrison. “It has been a pleasure to work with him, and the students, faculty and staff at Harford Community College have truly benefited from his commitment and dedication. We all wish him well on his next adventure.”
John Casner, Executive Director of the Northeastern Maryland Technology Council, presented Dr. Golladay with a check for a $1,000 STEM scholarship. The recipient for the upcoming academic year will be chosen by Dr. Golladay.
In addition, Bud Ramsay, Chair of the Harford Community College Alumni & Friends Association, presented the College president with a check for $3,000 to be used toward the Student Emergency Assistance (SEA) Fund. Dr. Golladay established the SEA as his legacy to the College. The fund will provide one-time emergency funding to students for unforeseen expenses, such as a car repair or child care, that would prevent them from continuing their studies at HCC.
Prior to being named President of Harford Community College in 2010, Dr. Golladay served as Vice Chancellor for Community Colleges at the University at Albany (SUNY), President of Cayuga Community College, Vice President for Academic Affairs at Anne Arundel Community College, and Dean of the School of Humanities at Pensacola Junior College.
At the farewell event, Dr. Golladay was joined by his wife Dr. Mamie Howard-Golladay, retired President of Sullivan County Community College, and several other family members.
