From the Community Foundation of Harford County:
Community Foundation of Harford County has appointed Brigitte Peters executive director. She began her new position May 2.
In her role as executive director, Peters will promote and increase philanthropy by building and managing permanent endowments and gifts to meet the present and emerging needs of Harford County and its nonprofit community.
Peters, a resident of Port Deposit, is certified in grant writing by The Grantsmanship Center, a national organization that helps nonprofits make better communities.
Prior to the Community Foundation of Harford County, Peters was the manager of the City of Havre de Grace’s Office of Tourism for 12 years. In that role, she oversaw the assimilation, organization and communication of tourism-related information to the general public and business community.
Through her work with McDonald’s LPGA Championship at Bulle Rock, State of Maryland Tourism, Maryland Film Office, National Park Service and War of 1812 bicentennial regional and local committees, Peters helped ensure Havre de Grace as Harford County’s premiere destination for tourists.
As a result of her work on the War of 1812 bicentennial commemoration, Peters was appointed by Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell to the National Park Service Advisory Council for a two-year term in 2014.
An active member of the Harford County community for years, Peters has served on the boards of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford County, Harford Cable Network and Opera House Foundation in addition to volunteering at the Aberdeen Swim Club, Meadowvale PTA, Main Street, Inc., and Havre de Grace Lions Club.
Peters has received numerous awards for her work. They include the 2013 Maryland Tourism Council’s Professional Award for Visionary Impact and the 2009 Maryland Tourism Council’s Audrey Davenport Hospitality Person of the Year. In 2013, Peters received the Best Large Event in Maryland Award from the Maryland Tourism Council for the 2013 commemoration of the War of 1812’s “Attack on Havre de Grace.”
“Brigitte Peters brings a stellar record of success in building community partnerships to her work at the Community Foundation of Harford County,” said Benny Walker, president of the foundation. “We are fortunate to have Brigitte join our team.”
Founded in 2007, the Community Foundation of Harford County is a nonprofit organization supported by the community through donations, enabling individuals, families and businesses to leave a legacy to benefit the causes that matter on a local level. In 2014, Community Foundation of Harford County received accreditation from the Community Foundations National Standards Board, the nation’s highest honor for philanthropic excellence. Perfect choice. She was a failure as the hdg tourism director and will be a failure for this failed organization. After 10 years they have only a million dollars in managed funds. Peters will bring nothing to this organization, in spite of the beliefs of drugged out former teachers.

More comments from the peanut gallery. Why don’t you show us how it’s done? Oh, that’s right, you aren’t. Hey, nether am I.
Another intolerant Republican, whatdya know?
Your idealogy and party beliefs are all but being erased and replaced with Progressive/Minority/Democratic.
I can’t wait until 2nd Amendment is abolished and you lunatics are banned from having guns.
You sure about that? says
Demtards have lost the House, Senate, and only 18 demtard Governors vs. 31 republicans. Even Maryland elected a republican governor. You are about to lose the Presidental election as well.
You may want to rethink your last statement.
clowned frow says
Clinton will win by a wide margin.
“Demtards” as you presumably live in one of the most politically blue elected state.
Conservative values aren’t the values I teach my kids.

Rethink my last statement? Maryland will never be the cowboy gun states of the West.
We have it right here, your average blue collar tax payer doesnt need most arms, and certainly doesn’t need to carry it in public.
We don’t need unstable temperament conservatives unholstering their guns, I’m so glad the average person CANNOT get a unrestricted Wear/carry permit. Good and substantial is great, but we need even more strict
Hcps teach says
i teach them conservative values and to dislike people who expect handouts and want the wealthy to pay for their welfare

Big deal, Maryland elected a Republican Governor. What has he done for you personally that made it so worth it?
The Maryland General Assembly is dominated by Democrats, and will forever be dominated by Democrats.

Certainly Ms. Peters is an effective communicator and fundraiser but an Executive Director of a nonprofit requires a more comprehensive skill set. It is not a big deal to be “certified” through the Grantsmanship Center. When I went throgh the program, it was 5 days of training.
Ms. Peters doesn’t live in Harford County but seems to be connected to the “right” folks. That is what will propel her career further, to schmooze and rub elbows. Unless thongs have changed, she will need to cowtow to Harford County Government.
We will see with time how well managed the Community Foundation remains.
