From Aberdeen Mayor Patrick McGrady:
On Saturday, April 16, 2016, there were two Aberdeen clean-up events. One was at North Deen Park, and the other at N. Rogers Street, near the Library. The North Deen Cleanup started at 8am and went until 4pm. There were dumpster rentals on site for the cleanup. Work at North Deen Park included picking up a bunch of garbage and getting the park ready for the active season.
The team, including Jared Noe, Mr. and Mrs. Taylorson, Cass Kittle, Debbie Holcomb, the Selcherts, the Kolligs, and a bunch of other folks. Thanks, and I’m sorry for the folks I missed!
At around 9am, a handful of us peeled off to go to the Rogers Street area. We cleaned up the woods and picked up 38 (thirty-eight!!!) bags of garbage and a mattress. Thanks to the McAliskeys, Tandra Ridgley, Councilman Goodin, Brady Goodin, and Ms. Amy Nash for your time and energy on this community clean-up effort.
At Monday night’s Aberdeen City Council meeting, we introduced a plan for the Keep Aberdeen Beautiful campaign. Watch for details about this soon, and please come to the official kickoff announcement this Saturday at Earth Day at Festival Park in Aberdeen from 11am-4pm!

Awesome! Interesting that none of the the other council people showed up to help. Sad actually.

Great job!!! Now it’s time to repave these streets….

Chris has a point, none of the ELECTED council members are mentioned. Don’t know if they were there or not since there is no mention just the guy that was APPOINTED, the guy that apparently had no desire to be on the council since he didn’t run in the election. It would be nice to know exactly what the other council members did on this event. I wasn’t in town so I wasn’t there, I booked my flight long before clean up day was planned, perhaps I’ll make the next one since it is a good cause.
Chris says
Pretty expected from the ELECTED bunch! I’ve wondered for years how the select few who have done NOTHING for years, continue to be reelected. This hands on mayor has really caught my eye as a stand up guy. I’ve seen nothing but good things happening from him.
