At 4 a.m. on Thursday the Harford County Sheriff’s Office received a call about malicious destruction of property at the Kohls Distribution Center in the 1700 block of Trimble Road in Edgewood.
Deputies discovered a small, self extinguished fire on the driver’s side floor of a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee and requested the Office of the State Fire Marshal to handle the investigation.
It was later determined the owner discovered the fire after getting off work. The vehicle was parked in a secured front parking lot along Trimble Road. S/DSFM Oliver Alkire and K9 Kachina performed a scan of the vehicle and it was determined an accelerant was used to start the fire.
The fire self-extinguished due to the suspect(s) closing the door, therefore not allowing oxygen to accelerate the fire.
No injuries were reported, but the Office of the State Fire Marshal estimated $1,500 in damage.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Northeast Regional Office at 410-836-4844.

A secured front parking lot? Then where’s the surveillance video?

Everyone knows you’re not cool if you’re looking at the explosion, so he couldn’t look back to see how the fire was progressing as he walked away.

Sounds like someone wanted to set their car on fire for the insurance money.
