From the Bel Air Police Department:
On Monday March 7, 2016 at approximately 07:58 am, Bel Air Police Officers responded to the area of the Bel Air Parking garage on South Hickory Avenue for a suicide.
Upon arrival, officers observed a subject on the driveway entrance on the Pennsylvania Avenue side of the garage. Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company responded and the subject was pronounced deceased at the scene.
No further information is being released pending notification of family.
Seems like an odd place to end one’s life. Appears suspicious to me per the details given.
Third or 4th jumper there in the last several months. The Bel Air Parking garage is the trendiest place in Harford Co. to begin the afterlife.
Thanks for the clarification. The phrase, “subject on the driveway entrance on the Pennsylvania Avenue side of the garage” made me think they were still in their car. Now it makes some sense.
There have even been rapes committed in that garage. Doesn’t seem something like that should happen when its across the strett from the sherriff’s dept.
This isn’t the first time someone has committed suicide there. A couple of years ago I was called for jury duty and when we tried to go to our cars during lunch the garage was taped off because someone had just jumped after losing custody of their kids in court. When I talked to one of the deputies he said it’s actually happened several times over the years. They need to construct some kind of fencing or barricade that is impossible to climb at that garage to prevent these incidents.
Better watch out, the Democrats in this State will try to ban or regulate parking garages next.
Conservatives wouldn’t want to do something to help someone in need. Maybe get a security guard to shoot the mentally ill before they jump.

The sad but true fact is ithat if someone chooses the alternatve of suicide they will find a way to do it. Putting a wall or fence up at the parking garage will just make them try another means. People that have made up their mind to end their life will end their life. Those reaching out for help will not.
All data shows that if you limit to the best of your ability access to the most lethal forms of suicide, rates of suicide drop. Not attempts, but rates of deaths. many attempt once, fail and get better. some attempt more than once. So NO!!!!! those “choosing” to attempt suicide will NOT always “find a way” So learn before you speak next time.

Everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion. I don’t claim to be a psychiatrist but I have unfortunately had the misfortunate job of investigating hundreds of suicides and suicide attempts in my law enforcement career. I speak from personal exprience. If someone wants to truly commit suicide they will find away. If you feel comfort and a sense of community service in building a fence or a wall around every tree, tower, building, or busy street that is your prerogative. Probably the difference between you and I is I have been there. Too many times, but we can agree to disagree. This is America.
True, for many they will find a way; but for many more, death will be prevented making further treatment possible and life possible.

A man suffering depression feels so bad about life that he takes his own life–and look how the callous clowns are starting to make political jokes. Sad. Very sad.

Better for someone to do it to themselves than to step out in front of a bus and give the driver all sorts of mental trauma.

The guy that steps out in traffic and causes psychological trauma for everyone on the bus is the bigger a-hole. Don’t forget to park a dumpster under the scaffold so the clean-up is easy.

I’m not sure why they haven’t released his name. Unfortunately I knew him, he was my friends brother. I don’t really want to put his name out there since it hasn’t been made public.
