From Harford County Sheriff Jeffrey R. Gahler:
Senior Deputy Patrick Dailey and DFC Mark Logsdon of the Harford County Sheriff’s Office tragically died in the line of duty on Wednesday, February 10, 2016, while faithfully serving the citizens of Harford County. Both Deputies were exceptional individuals, consummate professionals, and more importantly valued friends to all.
There is no way we can fully express our feelings of pride in the actions of our deputies who were faithful to the end, who did not shrink from their responsibilities, who did not cower in the face of danger, but courageously made the ultimate sacrifice for the citizens of Harford County.
The events of February 10th have greatly impacted our beloved Harford County community in so many ways. The men and women of the Harford County Sheriff’s Office would like to recognize the overwhelming support shown to our Office during this difficult time. The outpouring of love for Pat and Mark, for their families, and for our Sheriff’s Office family has been tremendous. We are so grateful for your compassion, generosity, and unwavering support during this very difficult period. We are honored to serve this community.
Please keep Pat and Mark’s families in your thoughts and prayers. Never forget to look out for and take care of one another; our time on Earth is short and precious.
With deep admiration and respect,
Jeffrey R. Gahler, Sheriff
James Langer says
Thanks to our Sheriff and his deputies for going out and putting themselves in harms way on a daily basis along with the many other municipalities who do the same.
Sheriff Gahler it is an honor and privilege to say we appreciate your men and woman and stand behind them 100%…….May God keep.you all safe and bring you home each day to your family’s…
SP says
I’ll second James’ comments. We support our police and Sheriff’s. The turnout to honor the deputies sacrifice was evidence of that. Thousands lined the route to honor them and all of our peace officers.
JT Huntsley says
Thoughts and prayers are you with your entire department, and the entire “Blue Brotherhood” during these difficult times.
Thanks for doing what you do to keep us safe, Sheriff!

Can someone explain why calls informing Gahler the shooter was armed and dangerous where diverted to the warrant division?
Deputies have been murdered this needs to be investigated thoroughly.
cyniskeptic says
Agreed. If channels 13 and 2 reported that family members of the accused had already alerted law enforcement as to the danger posed by this man then why didn’t this vital information make it to the deputies responding to the call? Was there a breakdown in communication from dispatch to the officers?
Frank's Mom says
Wondered who would be the first to make and ass of themselves on here. Congrats.
SMH says
If you are going to raise questions, at least have the facts straight. Daily worked in the Civil Department and was close to a PATROL call and responded.
Marc A Eaton says
Never been more proud of my fellow Deputies, My Sheriff and the county I served.
Belairmom says
if anything good has come out of this tragedy it is that we are reminded of the danger law enforcement officers face every day. They deserve our thanks and endless gratitude. Sheriff Gahler impressed me with his genuine emotion and the thoughtfulness he showed when speaking about these fallen officers. Prayers go out to their families and friends as they move forward and try to heal.
