From Friends of Harford:
HarfordNEXT which is the latest iteration of the County’s Master Plan will be unveiled Monday. A public meeting to explain the plan and ask for comments will be held on February 18th at Harford Community College, Chesapeake Dining Hall from 6 pm to 8 pm.
The County web address should have the details.

This plan is a guide to future development for the County. From this plan, all things will follow including the Comprehensive Rezoning of the entire County. If you miss this one, you may well miss the plans for your neighborhood. Let us know if you have specific concerns about your area. Friends of Harford will read and evaluate this plan and keep you apprised of its progress.
So What says
Let me guess. Develop, Develop, Develop. But make it sound like it is planned and controlled, but of course it is just a bunch of handouts to greedy developers from greedy politicians.

Why isn’t every resident of Harford County notified of this? If they can call us about the weather they sure as hell can call us to let us know about something as important as this.
During my senior year at college back in the stone age, I studied the Master Plan that was in effect at that time. It should be a real hoot to take a look at this one.
Doesn’t anyone believe in agricultural land trusts and holding some land back from the developers just in case our grandkids might have some novel uses for the land? Do we all need to have our own personal Walmart?
Maybe current residential building techniques and land use might not be the very best for the future of this county. Do we really need any more tract housing projects? Is there really a shortage of living space here? A shortage of shopping facilities?
Too bad this meeting is held after dark. I don’t see as well after dark as I used to and I avoid driving after dark whenever possible. Shouldn’t the county make arrangements for residence with handicaps like mine? I’ll bet if I had a million dollars to invest in unnecessary development accommodations would be made.

Call a cab they work after dark.

Forever amber is on government disability teet and crying and whining the government …. AKA the rest of us tax payers don’t do more to accommodate her.

No real need for any meeting. Barry glassman slutzky ,and boniface are owned by the developers. Barrys advisors are all realtors and developers like Dick Street, Tim Hopkins, Lawyer Joseph Snee, Bill Cox, etc. They dont want any questions from the public interfering with their plans. Government officials need to grow their tax base to justify big government. I actually had high hopes for the Glassman administration, but it is just more of the same old bullshit.
Mr. Moderate says
As I understand the process, state law only requires creation of new Master Plans every ten years. Didn’t Harford County adopt a new plan 3-4 years ago. I wonder why the rush?
I guess the previous pro-developer plan (was I the only person to analyze the composition of the advisory group that worked with P&Z on that plan ?) wasn’t considered sufficiently “friendly” for the Harford’sNEXT (Glassman, Boniface, etal) group of builders waiting in line.
The Money Tree says
I’m sure Snee and the gang are demanding expansion of the developement envelope. They want you to pay to expand sewer, etc so they can pocket the extra income. It’s all for you. Want to take the time to thank the morons in our government that approved the height on the hideous apartments on the old Amos property. Awesome that you have to look at the backside of those gross defects from all along the MA & PA as well as the entirety of Annies.
