Due to Harford Community College’s inclement weather closing, the Athletic Hall of Fame has been rescheduled. Members of the Harford Community College Athletic Hall of Fame will be honored on Friday, February 5 during the Fighting Owls women’s and men’s basketball games in the APG Federal Credit Union Arena at Harford Community College. The reception and women’s basketball game begin at 5:30 PM, the induction ceremony starts at 7:15 PM, and at 8 PM the men’s game starts and the reception closes.
The HCC Athletic Hall of Fame recognizes individuals who exemplify a commitment to excellence both in athletics and the community. The members of the Class of 2016 include J. Michael Hopkins (’79) football, Lashuna Cooper (’03) Women’s Basketball All-American, Kristin Jasper Blizzard (’03) five sports athlete (basketball, lacrosse, soccer, softball, and tennis), and Roger Torres (’07) Tennis ITA Junior College Player of the Year, National Champion, #1 singles player in NJCAA Division III. The College will also honor the memory of Julie Ward Brady, who passed in September 2015. She was a member of the 1995 Champion Field Hockey team, which was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2015.
Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children ages 10 and under. The ticket includes the reception, the induction ceremony, and a reserved seat for the basketball doubleheader vs. Southern Maryland. The Zooperstars will be featured at half-time during both games. There will be great food and memories to share.
