From the Havre de Grace Police Department:
Regarding today’s incident at the High School:
At approximately 10:00 am a student received a group text message from another student referencing a shooting that was to take place at Havre de Grace High School. At approximately 10:15 am, the Havre de Grace Police School Resource Officer for the high school was notified by the student who received the text.
The school resource officer advised other officers of the situation and the lock down safety protocols at the school went into effect. As officers responded to the high school, the school resource officer was able to identify a suspect. The suspect, identified as a 16 year old male and a student of Havre de Grace High, was taken into custody at approximately 11:00am.
The school remained at a heightened security posture until approximately 12:00pm when it was determined that there was no evidence to substantiate the threats in the text message. This entire incident appears to have stemmed from a disagreement between the suspect and another group of individuals.
Charges are pending, and likely, against the juvenile at this time with no official charges filed as of yet.
The officers on the scene encountered many parents who were understandably concerned about the safety of their child within the school. At no time were any weapons displayed, or located, within the school. As many of our officers are parents, we completely understand the concern and sincerely appreciate the understanding by the parents who arrived on the scene. Thank you all for your support, understanding, and patience demonstrated to ensure the implementation of safety procedures could be accomplished. You all were a tremendous help.
This kid should be expelled, along with criminal charges!!!
Should have been “JAILED”…. PERIOD!
So what is it with these kids threatening to shoot their fellow students? I have to say, as a high school teen, me and my buddies wouldn’t have dreamed of making such a threat. We were more scared of what our Fathers would have done to us, than the police, if we tried a stupid stunt like this. The kid should be expelled and let the parents home school him.
Another “juvenile” is a bad boy. His records will be sealed and he’ll be let go to the custody of his parents, if he has any. If his parents are around they should have to pay for all the expense and mental anguish he caused.
Better get use to those bars kid.
Curious as to why a full hour elapsed between the text being sent, and the perp being taken into custody. I’m assuming there’s an explanation, but its a bit unsettling.
