From the City of Havre de Grace:
The City of Havre de Grace has plenty that’s new to see and do this year. Unique up-lighting along Washington Street is creating quite a social media buzz, along with traditional holiday decorations throughout the City, and many wonderful events.
The Holiday Express Train Display on North Washington Street, operated by the Havre de Grace Alliance is attracting crowds to visit. The Pop-Up Art Gallery, a fundraiser to benefit the Opera House Foundation, at 220 North Washington Street, is showcasing original artwork and handcrafted items for gifting opportunities. Festive holiday panels of original artwork, many with a local theme, created by resident artist Ezra Berger can also be seen in windows throughout town.
The City, with the support of Aberdeen Proving Ground Federal Credit Union (APGFCU) and Visit Harford!, is adding to the festive holiday mix, by bringing ice skating back to Havre de Grace, not on the Susquehanna River, but alongside it at Hutchins Park, located at the foot of Congress Avenue.
Each weekend, beginning Thursday, December 17 and continuing through February 28, will bring a different local non-profit organization to Hutchins Park to operate the ice rink. These groups will, in turn, offer a different vending experience of seasonal delights each weekend.
“Bundle up and bring your family and friends to Hutchins Park to support our local non-profits while enjoying the tradition of holiday skating along our beautiful waterfront in Havre de Grace,” encourages Havre de Grace Mayor, Bill Martin.
The Havre de Grace Ice Rink, part of the City’s Winter Wonderland, will be open from 4 to 8 p.m., starting Thursday, December 17 through Sunday, December 20. The four-day weekend will continue through February 28th.
The Boys & Girls Club of Harford County will welcome skaters for the Christmas holiday weekend opening on, Saturday, December 26, and continuing through Sunday, January 3.
Enjoy a New Year’s Eve on the ice with a night skate from 8-10 pm and then stroll over to the Havre de Grace Middle School on Lewis Lane. The Susquehanna Hose Company will be hosting the Annual New Year’s Eve Duck Drop and fireworks. Where you can enjoy hot chocolate, music, and ring in 2016! Go to www.explorehavredegrace.com for late skate openings and other scheduled detais.

The only question not answered is “How much does all this cost?” Seems Mayor Martin has found the Money Tree the way the city is spending money.
I love Hdg says
None: You are one of 5 likely people who would make such an inane post. But regardless of who you are, you’ve exposed yourself as a bitter, small-minded loser who cares more about your justifiably fragile ego, than you do about your hometown. Grow up!
I hate Hdg says
Oooh, wow. One in five, Hugh? Good job, detective.

“Due to the rainy weather today and predicted rain continuing through the evening, the Ice Rink at Hutchins Park, located at the foot of Congress Ave, will officially open at 4:00 pm on Friday, December 18th. Friday’s weather promises to be sunny and perfect for skating. Join us for the opening of the rink and enjoy an inaugural skate. This weekend’s host is the Havre de Grace High School PTSA, fundraising for the Safe After Prom Event. See you at the rink!”
