From A. Bright Idea:
Parker Brightman, 13, of Bel Air, Maryland, landed a supporting role in the new ‘made for TV’ movie, Christmas Trade, starring Billy Baldwin, Tom Arnold and Denise Richards. Parker plays a sarcastic teen named “Max,” loyal best friend to the lead, Michael Campion, who plays “Robbie Taylor.”
With a Freaky Friday-style plot, Christmas Trade marries comedy with family emotion as a widowed father and his son literally step into each other’s shoes during the holidays.
“There seem to be fewer holiday films like Home Alone or Elf that kids can really relate to,“, noted Parker Brightman, supporting actor and Bel Air native. “It’s one of those great holiday movies you can watch with the entire family and I think people will really enjoy it!”
Filmed on the west coast this spring, the Christmas Trade experience proved beneficial as the next step in Brightman’s acting career. Working on-set quickly became a star-studded professional development experience for Brightman, one that helped strengthen his unique attributes that make him a standout character along with tapping into his comedic side.
“The best part of the experience was the opportunity to talk with Billy Baldwin,” notes Parker. “I tried to pick his brain about how to say a line or act in a certain way. His advice helped me feel more comfortable on set and will definitely have a positive impact on my career in the future.”
According to Brightman, his favorite aspect of the experience was getting to know the other actors He was able to share stories at lunch with actors his age and found many of them to have much in common with him. Even for a 13-year-old boy in the middle of Hollywood, making friends and spending time with them trumps all.
“We are proud of Parker for following his dream of becoming an actor, sacrificing to make his dream a reality and making the most of every experience,” said T.J. Brightman, Parker’s father. “It is surreal to watch his acting career take shape, we continue support him in awe of his accomplishments thus far and can’t wait to see what’s next.”
To see Brightman’s character in action as he provides comic relief and loyal support for his best friend throughout the movie, check local listings for UPTV during the holiday season. The UP Network can be found on most cable networks, as well as DIRECTTV channel 338, DISH channel 188 and Verizon FIOS channel 238.
No stranger to life in front of the camera, Brightman’s other credits include: the CBS hit series, “Person of Interest;” “Murder Book,” which aired on Lifetime; and, his new project, “Neurotica,” where he guest stars in five TV episodes, set for release in 2016.
