From The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region:
The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region (The Arc NCR) hosted the Sprout Film & Art Festival on Friday, November 13, 2015 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Water’s Edge Events Center in Belcamp, MD. The festival featured an art display from local artists of all abilities, an hour of inspirational Sprout films and a modern performance by ReVision Dance Company. Over 100 people attended the event, which raised over $4,500 in support of The Arc NCR’s services for people with differing abilities in Harford and Cecil Counties.
Art submissions came in from throughout the region, and included pieces from Harford County Public Schools students, the Harford Center, local art studios and The Arc NCR. The Sprout films included topics such as autism, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and Downs Syndrome, and all focused on breaking misconceptions about differing abilities. The modern dance performance, “Just Be,” by ReVision dance company explored the raw emotions and life experiences of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
“It was a wonderful evening of film, art and dance showcasing the talents of all abilities and strongly supported by our community,” says Director of Development at The Arc NCR, Julie Chmura.
The Sprout Film & Art Festival would not have been possible without a grant from the Harford County Cultural Arts Board, title sponsors Raven’s Nest No. 1 of Harford County and the Center for the Arts. Additional event sponsors were the Harford Business Roundtable for Education and First National Bank.
