From the Harford County Sheriff’s Office:
Officers with the Aberdeen Police Department were called to the 100 block of Hanover St for an assault involving a baseball bat at approximately 4:35 p.m. on Saturday, November 21, 2015.
While officers were responding they were notified that the suspect was inside a green mini-van fleeing the area. Officer’s quick response and attention resulted in the mini-van being stopped. The vehicle occupants were detained pending further investigation. A passenger in the van, thirty-year-old Matthew Channing Vanreenen (of no fixed address) was later arrested and charged with first and second degree assault.
Vanreenen allegedly assaulted a 14-year-old boy and the boy’s father because of an ongoing dispute Vanreenen’s step-father had with them. The 14-year-old suffered a massive contusion to the upper left thigh as a result of being struck with the baseball bat. His father suffered facial injuries to the right side of his face after allegedly being punched by Vanreenen. Both the 14-year-old and his father sought medical attention on their own.

And people wonder why the BRAC folks moving down here didn’t/don’t want to live in the new housing developments in Aberdeen and Havre de Grace? What rock do guys like this crawl out from under??
Lance Hersh says
The outcome could have been different if this State would allow its Citizens their 2nd Amendment Rights. All involved may be trouble makers, but no way a 30 year old should ever assault a 14 year old child. To bad the father wasn’t carrying a gun, he could have put this POS where he belongs, 6 feet under.
Harford Resident says
Given the large numbers of hunters in this state, I almost can’t understand how that majority doesn’t vote out the anti-gunners, and vote in pro-gun/NRA legislators. Why doesn’t the NRA pump more money into these local elections to try and change things?
UncommonSense says
Probably because the NRA doesn’t actually care about your “rights.” They only care about the money they receive from the firearms industry. MidwayUSA and Beretta have no incentive or interests in the county or the state, so neither does the NRA. Also, wasn’t that evil Obama supposed to take away all our guns by now? Well, I’m sure it’ll happen soon. Better stock up on those bullets and ammo! The NRA says so!
Kharn says
Because 60+% of voters in MD are registered as Democrats.
Harford Resident says
How did Hogan get in, then?
Tim says
The smarter folks from NJ voted him in. They already knew about the loser Dems in NJ which lost to Rep Christie. Now it’s MD’s turn.
SoulCrusher says
Hogan got in because the Democratic Candidate failed to campaign in Baltimore City. The Democratic Candidate was of African American descent and thought he did not need to campaign there because he just knew Baltimore City residents would vote for him due to his race. In contrast to his thoughts, the citizens of Baltimore just didn’t show up for the election. It is also a well known fact that Democrats don’t always show up for the mid-term elections as it is not a Presidential race.
Simply Math says
Because Baltimore leads the state around by the nose, that’s why. It’s the Free Stuff Army, winning election after election.

The father of the kid had a knife pulled out on the folks involved,

One of the big concerns is that as a manager at one of these complexes is that when you do have a problem with a resident at a govt. subsidy property it is very hard to get them out and if by chance you do they just move to the next complex down the road and you cannot even let that complex know they were a problem without the chance of being sued
Harford County Gun Toter says
This is the reason I conceal/carry. I don’t care what the law says. If my son or family is being threatened like this, I will take care of it instead of waiting 7 minutes for the police to arrive while I am being swung at by a bat. – In Paris, the shooters took 15 minutes to re-load and begin shooting again. WHY? because Paris is a gunless society unless you are a criminal of course. France is a SOFT TARGET. I will not be.
Tim says
Ditto, same here. I worked hard to get where I am and dealt with BS like BRAC and other political shenanigans. I’ve had it. Burglars, assaulter’s, and other troublemakers beware. I have zero tolerance for this type of nonsense.
Harford County says
And the NRA, so-called gun owner’s representatives, is nowhere in sight to help Maryland residents change the gun laws.
Harford County says
And what exactly does BRAC have to do with some white trash beating each other up with a baseball bat??I’d be willing to bet these clowns aren’t engineers and/or scientists working at APG.
We the people says
Yeah, you are probably right.
Meanwhile, every 3 months or so the next employee on APG makes it to local news in some scam with stealing thousands and thousands of dollars from their employer.
Harford Resident says
Why don’t you get a job there to get some of the action?
We the people says
Don’t forget about the biggest (legal) scam of them all going around, its happening everyday in this states shittiest city.
You know, for example, like thousands of dollars spent to put a nice big trash can near a bus stop, funny how all the trash still ends up on the ground right next to it. I guess the answer to that is spend more money to put 2 trash cans at each bus stop instead of one? Huh?
