The Aberdeen IronBirds, Class A short season affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, today announced its schedule for the 2016 regular season. The 38-game home schedule is highlighted by 14 post-game firework shows every Friday and Saturday evening, as well as a firework extravaganza on the Fourth of July. Season seat memberships are on sale now with seat options available for full season (38 games), half season (19 games) and mini plans (9 or 5 games).
The IronBirds will start the season on a five-game road trip against McNamara Division opponents Hudson Valley Renegades and Staten Island Yankees, June 17 – 21. Opening Day at Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium is set for Wednesday, June 22 at 7:05 p.m. as the IronBirds take on the Auburn Doubledays for a three-game series, followed by a weekend opener against the Connecticut Tigers.
In July, the ‘Birds start the month off with a “bang” in a three-game series beginning July 4 against the defending NY-Penn League Champion West Virginia Black Bears, followed by a home matchup versus the Brooklyn Cyclones (July 11-13); Staten Island Yankees (July 17-19); and Mahoning Valley Scrappers (July 28-30).
The month of August heats up at Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium with 15 home games that include six firework shows (August 5, 12, 13, 20, 26, 27). The IronBirds wrap up the season in September against the Brooklyn Cyclones (September 1-3) and conclude with a Labor Day two-game closer against the Hudson Valley Renegades including fireworks on Sunday, Sept. 4 and the only day-game of the season on Monday, Sept. 5.
Group outings will be available beginning January 11, and in celebration of National Crab Meat Day on March 9, fans will have the opportunity to purchase single seats for the Extra Innings Café and 2016 Crab Feast outings.
Individual game tickets go on sale Saturday, April 30 at the annual pre-season IronFest event at Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium. The festivities will also include the third annual Amanda Hichkad CCA Celebration Walk benefitting Cancer LifeNet at University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health program.
