From Harford County government:
Harford County Executive Barry Glassman is inviting county employees to skip shaving during the national “No Shave November” men’s cancer awareness campaign, and taking it to the next level by collecting donations of shaving supplies and other toiletries for the homeless and local veterans. In an e-mail Monday to all employees, County Executive Glassman wrote:
“As we begin to wind down our efforts during ‘Pink October’ to raise awareness of breast cancer and other cancers that affect our families, we will be joining the national campaign of No Shave November.
Let’s join together to use No Shave November to raise awareness of prostate cancer and urge the men in our county to remember all of their cancer screenings and remember those already fighting the battle with cancer. If you feel comfortable doing so and operating conditions allow, please take the month off from shaving. We would like each department to contribute shaving supplies and associated toiletries that you would normally use during the month. We will also have a collection box in the lobby of 220 S. Main Street. At the end of the month, we will donate the items to some of our veterans’ groups which are in need and our homeless folks for use during the winter months.
Thank you so much for your efforts as we build a Stronger and Healthier Harford County for all our families.”
mostly blah says
good cause no doubt, wondering why we county employees have to do the donating? Razors are expensive and the county don’t pay enough to give away my razors. maybe the ce will look like a grown man along side his sidekick bonifarce if they don’t shave for a month? how bout that ce spreading his highly efficient government by lease to his campeing supporter in H d G. just take a look at the official cabinet in all its white glory, not even a tanned person in the bunch! a picture says a thousand words. wonder how it complements hcg equal opportunity policy to have all directors be white….
