From MartinoBlum:
On Saturday, October 31, thousands of happy folks had GREAT TIME at the 27th Annual Festival at Bel Air Halloween Costume Contest and Parade Event!
Event coordinator Michael Blum says, “Our Halloween Costume Event and Parade and Trick-or-Treat is arguably the county’s largest and it might just be the STATE’S LARGEST. We easily had over 2,500 people attend, with well over a thousand children in costumes.
This year’s event was held in the parking lot at the Festival at Bel Air Shopping Center, between Rite Aid and Uptown Cheapskate. All kids in costumes got candy and trick-or-treat bags, plus coupons from AC Moore, Kids First Swim School and Costume Cabaret.
“We were helped by beautiful weather,” says Blum. “Everyone got trick-or-treat bags; the top 12 Finalists got prize bags with great gifts; the winners received gift certificates to Festival stores, with the GRAND PRIZE was $150 in gift certificates to Kohl’s and Chuck E. Cheese’s.”
After the contest, everyone was invited to “trick-or-treat” participating stores in the Festival until 2 pm!
The results of the contest were:
1st Place: Tatiana Johnson of Port Deposit as a “Dippin Dots Kid”
2nd Place: Penelope Sexton from Bel Air as the LITTLE OLD LADY BABY
3rd Place: Layla Gray from Bel Air as the PIE IN THE OVEN
Other finalists were dressed as a Claw Vending Machine; a Front End Loader; the Witch King Nazgul; Ms Pac-Man and her prey; Tic-Tacs Box; a Robin in a nest in a tree; an iPhone; a Pirate Ship, and more. There were many COSTUMED PETS, including 2 sisters with twin cats! See attached photo.
There was also a SPECIAL APPEARANCE from Mr. Chuck E. Cheese, Helen Henny and Jake’s Way Back Burger Man.
Says Blum, “Everyone should put next year’s event on the calendar right now — SATURDAY, OCTOBER 29, 2016!”
