Bowman’s Butcher Shop Opens Harford County’s Only USDA-Inspected Butcher Shop and Retail Store

Bowman’s Butcher Shop was founded in 1942 and is family owned and operated. Since then, butcher shop has had a long standing within the local farming community, however it has only been able to process animals directly for farmers and their customers until now. With the support of the family and local government, Bowman’s has taken its next leap – opening Harford County’s first USDA Inspected Butcher Shop and retail store.

For years, customers have been asking for a USDA inspected butcher shop where they can purchase locally raised beef, lamb, goat and pork, as well as other packaged products. When the family was ready to answer that demand, they found that it was going to be an extremely costly venture. However, after many discussions and the show of support from the local community, the partnership of Kimberly Driver, Gerald Bowman, Alice Schott, and Andrew Johnson knew it was the right choice to invest in becoming the first USDA Inspected meat processing facility in Harford County. “Our vision for Bowman’s is to provide the people of Harford County and surrounding areas with the highest quality of meat from local farmers, at an affordable price.”

The grand re-opening of Bowman’s Butcher Shop will be held at our store, located at 3452 Churchville Rd. in Aberdeen on Friday, October 23rd, at 2pm. To celebrate our kick off, the grand opening will include free tastings of some of our hottest products as well as behind the scenes tours of our facility, and multiple customer giveaways. One lucky customer will win a $100 gift card to be used in the retail store! The celebration will continue Saturday, October 24th from 9am – 5pm at our customer appreciation event featuring additional tastings from 11am – 2pm as well as product discounts and customer giveaways.

The retail store specializes in local, dry aged, antibiotic and hormone free beef, but also features local pork, lamb, and chicken as well as a wide variety of exotic meats.
