From The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region:
The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region (The Arc NCR) invites you be a superhero and help raise funds to bring transportation to people with differing abilities in Cecil County! On Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 8:00 a.m., The Arc NCR will host its 2nd Annual Freedom Fun Run at Perryville Community Park in Perryville, MD. Participants are encouraged to dress in costume as their favorite superhero for the event. A costume contest will take place at 9:00 a.m.
The Freedom Fun Run is a non-timed 5K scenic loop by the water in a fully accessible park. Walkers are welcome! Although this race is untimed, participants are welcome to time themselves and set a personal record or to take their time and hang out with other real-life superheroes. WXCY 103.7 FM’s Tim Hartley will be at the event providing a morning full of music.
The goal of the event is to raise $8,000 to fund bringing transportation to Cecil County for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities receiving The Arc NCR’s services.
“Not being able to drive can impact so much…it affects independence, being able to have a job, going to doctor’s appointments, and even something as simple as going to the park,” says Executive Director of The Arc NCR, Shawn Kros. “We are looking to bring that level of independence to Cecil County.”
Registration includes a commemorative t-shirt and refreshments at the event. For those who wish to donate but can’t attend the event, you can sign up as a virtual runner. Event sponsors include the Law Offices of Adam M. Smallow, Financial Advisor Jason Y. Lim of Edward Jones, Terry Mulkins of Patterson Schwartz Real Estate and Elegant Restoration, Inc.
