MIKULSKI STATEMENT ON POPE FRANCIS’S HISTORIC VISIT TO THE U.S.

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Barbara A. Mikulski (D-Md.) today issued the following statement welcoming Pope Francis to the United States:

“I join Americans of all faiths in welcoming the Holy Father, Pope Francis, to the United States. It’s an emotional and historic moment for our country. He’s shown that it’s not just about what you believe, it’s about making a difference by putting those beliefs into action. He’s been a voice for the voiceless. He carries a message of peace and compassion. I look forward to meeting him and hearing him exhort and inspire us on how we can be a better people.”
