From Harford County government:
Harford County Executive Barry Glassman announced today that he will be elevating current Deputy Director of Harford County’s Office of Governmental and Community Relations, Cindy Mumby, to become its new Director.
County Executive Glassman said during his announcement, “Cindy Mumby has been an invaluable member of my management team during our first nine months. She has been an effective spokesperson for the changes and direction that the Administration is taking Harford County. She also embodies my policies of transparency and openness with our Community Partners and the Baltimore Area media.”
Mrs. Mumby will continue to serve as the spokesperson for the Glassman Administration along with overseeing the Office of Governmental and Community Relations and the Division of Citizen Affairs and Administrative Services. She will also continue in her role as the County’s first dedicated liaison to the Board of Education.
Ms. Mumby is a former managing partner of the news website The Dagger, and co-host of “The Harford Edge”, a public affairs radio program. Through many years of professional and volunteer work, she has built productive relationships with community members and decision-makers, especially in the field of public education. Ms. Mumby holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the State University of New York at Albany.

Cindy Mumby is one of the few Glassman I appointees whom I trust to do a good job in carrying out her responsibilities. Now that she is the head honcho of her department, I’m hopeful she will suggest the CE tone down the “I’m great, in your face, H/C” propaganda she’s had to pound out for Mr. Blue and Green these past nine months..
I note that Ms. Mumby “will continue to serve as… spokesperson” and “continue…as the County’s…liaison to the Board of Education” all the while “overseeing the Office of Governmental and Community Relations and the Division of Citizen Affairs and Administrative Services.”.
More “greater efficiency and less government at reduced cost.” !

More layers of bureaucracy at the expense of the taxpayer.
Auntie Em says
Miss Gulch (or Mr. Gulch): if you did your homework (which, judging by your posts, is unlikely) you’d realize that the former director no longer works for the county, and that Ms. Mumby assumed his duties. SO actually its one LESS bureaucrat. But please, by all means, don’t let reality interfere with your knee-jerk worldview.
Miss Gulch says
Auntie Em,
Don’t be rash in your judgment. I have worked alongside local government for many years and am well aware that the position is an existing one, albeit not as established as some of the others within the municipality. I just think there is way too much government and duplication in our county, resulting in wasteful spending of taxpayer dollars. How did we ever do without a Government and Community Relations office before? Hmmm.

I just saw a picture of Cindy the other day and she looks nothing like the parent I remember at HWES.
