From the Aberdeen Police Department:
Detectives from the Aberdeen Police have made an arrest in the June 27th 2015 bank robbery of the M&T Bank located on West Bel Air Avenue. In that robbery a male entered the bank and issued a note demanding an undisclosed amount of US currency from a bank employee. Upon receiving the cash the suspect fled the scene and was unable to be located.
The Aberdeen Police Department requested the help of the public to identify the suspect in the robbery. Pictures of the suspect were circulated in the local press and social media. Detectives from the Aberdeen Police Department received a tip through Metro Crime Stoppers of a possible suspect in the robbery and began an immediate follow-up investigation.
Aberdeen Police Detective Thaddeus Tomlinson investigated the Metro Crime Stoppers tip, and Jarone Nathaniel Walcott DOB: 12/20/1990 was developed as a suspect. Detective Tomlinson’s investigation showed that Walcott was arrested by the Newark Police Department in connection with a “Note Style” Bank Robbery that occurred on June 20th 2015 at the Wells Fargo Bank in the 600 block S. College Ave. in Newark Delaware.
Detective Tomlinson, with the assistance of the Newark Police Department, conducted a search warrant at Walcott’s residence in Newark, Delaware. There additional evidence was recovered linking him to the June robbery in Aberdeen.
On September 3rd 2015, Walcott, who is currently being held in a Delaware Detention facility, was charged with the robbery of the Aberdeen branch of M&T Bank.
The Aberdeen Police Department commends those who provide invaluable information regarding crimes committed within our community. Without the public’s help many of these serious criminal offenses would go unsolved.
