From Maryland State Police:
Police are seeking public assistance in the identification of a vehicle involved in a fatal hit and run crash on Friday, August 7, 2015 around 9:30 p.m. on eastbound US Route 40 in Aberdeen.
The deceased is identified as Jennie Butler of the 1100 block of South Philadelphia Boulevard in Aberdeen Maryland. Police believe Mrs. Butler and her daughter were attempting to cross US Route 40 from the east side of the roadway to the west side at Maryland Route 7 when she was struck. Emergency medical personnel pronounced Mrs. Butler deceased at the scene.
On Friday, August 7, 2015 at approximately 9:25pm, troopers from the Maryland State Police Bel Air Barrack and Harford County EMS were dispatched to the scene of the crash. The preliminary investigation reveals that Mrs. Butler was struck by two vehicles. The first vehicle was a gold 2003 Ford Focus operated by Duane Wassum of Aberdeen, Maryland, who stopped immediately and remained at the scene.
After reviewing video surveillance of the area, police believe the second vehicle was a sport utility vehicle. The SUV was seen traveling eastbound for a short distance before it stopped and then continued to travel eastbound.
Police are asking anyone with any information regarding this crash to call the Maryland State Police Bel Air Barrack at 410-879-2101. There is no further description available for the SUV except for it’s location at the time of the crash.
