Harford County Public Library Foundation Elects New Officers

From the Harford County Public Library Foundation:

The Harford County Public Library (HCPL) Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of new officers to its 2015-16 Board of Directors. Incoming officers are Mark DiBerardino as President, Carolyn Lambdin as Vice President, Cynthia Hergenhahn as Secretary and Allen Jackson as Treasurer.

Mark DiBerardino received a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Computer Science from Millersville University and has spent the majority of his career working in the defense industry. Moving to Maryland in 1995, Mark has been working in support of the Aberdeen Proving Grounds market and currently serves as a Director for a large defense firm.
Mark moved to Harford County from Baltimore in 2005 and currently resides in Pylesville. He is married to Pam and has two daughters. He joined the HCPL Foundation Board in 2013.

Carolyn K. Lambdin began her career with Harford County Government in 1990 as the Project Director for the Police Research Office. For two decades, she worked for the Department of Community Services and retired in July 2012 from the Department of Administration. Carolyn has served on the Board of Trustees for the Center for the Arts, Dancing for the Arts Gala Committee, New Visions for Women Planning Committee, St. Margaret’s Home School Board, The John Carroll School’s Booster Club and The Special Commission on Education Funding, Efficiency and Accountability. She has also been President of the Harford Council of Community Services, Founding Chair of the Harford County Government’s Employee of the Month Program and a mentor with the Kid’s C.A.N Mentoring Program. Carolyn is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Friends of the Bel Air Library, the Center for the Arts Advisory Board, The Morris A. and Clarisse B. Mechanic Foundation Board of Directors, the Harford County Public Library Foundation’s Gala Committee and The John Carroll School’s Lighting the Way Campaign. She also volunteers at Emmorton Elementary School. A native Baltimorean, Carolyn and husband, Joe, have lived in the Bel Air area since 1977. They have a daughter, son-in-law and two granddaughters. Carolyn joined the HCPL Foundation Board in 2012.

Cynthia Hergenhahn has been a member of the Friends of the Abingdon Library since the organization’s inception in 2002, helping organize fundraising activities, plan employee appreciation events and coordinate an annual yard sale to benefit the Library. Cynthia joined the HCPL Foundation as the Friend’s Liaison, facilitating communication between the Libraries’ Friends Groups and the HCPL Foundation. As the owner of Events By I Did It Myself, Cynthia offers her event planning expertise to many events each year including the Foundation’s annual gala. Cynthia also volunteers for the Harford County Chamber of Commerce, Greater Excellence in Education, the Abingdon, Bel Air and Emmorton Community Advisory Boards, Special Olympics Maryland and the Women’s Giving Circle of Harford County.

Allen Jackson joined the HCPL Foundation Board in 2014. He moved to Bel Air, Maryland from Buffalo, New York in 2011 to coordinate the opening of the new Wegmans store in Abingdon. As an Operations Executive, Allen manages all aspects of the business operation including budgeting and people. In his role as Manager of the new Harford County store, he was responsible for hiring and training 550 employees, oversight of merchandising and food safety compliance. He is married to Gail. They have a daughter, son and two wonderful grandchildren.
