From Harold Boccia, Chairperson, Pancake Breakfast:
Great Pancakes, Soggy Weather
On behalf of the Bel Air Lions Club and the many community volunteers that joined us, we say, “Thanks for braving the rain and having breakfast with us on the Fourth of July”. Despite the periods of rain, almost 1900 friends from Bel Air and the surrounding communities were served a breakfast of blueberry pancakes, sausage, orange juice and a beverage of choice by the Bel Air Lions, their spouses and the Bel Air High School volunteers. This dedicated group of volunteers clocked over 950 hours of community service to provide you with a great breakfast. Each year our community event grows and continues to be a success with your support.
To help defray the expenses and keep the cost of the breakfast at a reasonable cost, many local businesses graciously made contributions to the breakfast. Kudos go out to these businesses for their contributions: Box Hill Pizzeria, Wegmans, Suburban propane gas company, Wagner Foods, and EZ Stores of Bel Air. Invaluable service was received from: Town of Bel Air Public Works division, Harford County Public Schools Food and Nutrition division, Bel Air High School football teams, Bel Air High School Varsity Club and several service minded individuals from the community.
Most of all, we want to thank you for your enthusiastic support of our Pancake Breakfast event and the numerous festivities for the 4th of July in Bel Air. We look forward to serving up more blueberry pancakes on the 4th of July, 2016, and please, “Say no to the rain”.
