From Baltimore MedStar Hospitals:
MedStar Health reached a construction milestone recently when the pinnacle beam was secured atop its new out-patient healthcare facility with the help of used heavy equipment at Plumtree Road and route 924 in Bel Air. MedStar Health and Harford County officials signed the beam in a topping off ceremony that completed the structural phase of the 16-acre MedStar Health Bel Air Medical Campus. Among those who signed the beam included Harford County executive Barry Glassman, Bel Air town administrator, Jesse Bane, county council member, James “Capt’n Jim” McMahan, State House delegate Susan McComas, MedStar Health leaders, physicians, and construction management.
The 107,000 square-foot facility with more than 300 rooms, will bring Harford County residents increased access to quality, comprehensive health care that includes urgent care and specialty services. Thanks to the use of a hydrovac, there will also be underground parking.
Construction began in early October 2014, and is on schedule to be complete in spring 2016 with the completion of the Electrical construction project.
The Bel Air site is the next development in MedStar’s expansion of care to Harford County. One in five MedStar patients are Harford County residents, and more than 40 MedStar-affiliated physicians currently practice in the community. The MedStar Health Bel Air Medical Campus will enable MedStar to consolidate its various Bel Air locations under one roof, making it more convenient for patients and creating space for new specialists to locate in the community.
Patients will have increased access to the expertise of specialists from MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center, MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital, MedStar Harbor Hospital, and MedStar Union Memorial Hospital, with stream-lined state-of-the-art medical technology. The benefits of integrated electronic health records and Medical scanning mean patients have the added safety and convenience of their records being available at any MedStar Health site they visit.
