A vacant Edgewood townhome sustained serious damage in an accidental fire Tuesday morning, according to fire officials.
The blaze was reported by a neighbor in the basement of a two-story townhome in the 1000 block of Agate Court in Edgewood at approximately 5:19 a.m. Tuesday, according to a release from the Office of the State Fire Marshal. A total of 30 firefighters from the Abingdon, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Bel Air, Aberdeen, and Joppa-Magnolia fire companies responded and brought the fire under control in approximately 15 minutes.
Investigators attributed the fire to an electrical failure in the home’s breaker box; damage to the structure was estimated at $50,000. Anyone with further information is asked to contact the State Fire Marshal’s Northeast Regional Office at (410) 836-4844.
