Delegate Mary Ann Lisanti has served on the Sustainable Growth Commission since 2010 as representative of the Maryland Association of Counties (MACo). In 2013, Governor O’Malley appointed Del. Lisanti to Vice-Chair of the Commission. Effective May 4, 2015 Governor Hogan re-appointed Del. Lisanti to Vice-Chair and she will continue to serve at the pleasure of the Governor.
“With a 1/2 million people estimated to move into Maryland over the next decade, it is important that we plan our growth while protecting our quality of life. I am honored to serve the people of Maryland and both Governors O’Malley and Hogan as we face our future challenges,” said Del. Lisanti.
The Maryland Sustainable Growth Commission was established by the Maryland General Assembly in 2010. The purpose of the Commission is to make recommendations on growth and development issues and celebrate smart growth achievements. The members represent local and state government, business and nonprofit organization sectors. The Commission reports annual to the Governor, Legislature and top state government officials.
Del. Lisanti remains committed to advancing smart and sustainable growth in Maryland. Continuing the Commission’s work of reinvesting in our existing communities, reduce urban sprawl, and protect our land which includes our irreplaceable natural resources.
