A suspect in connection to a bank robbery that occurred Monday morning in Whiteford, is currently being held at a detention facility in Pennsylvania, awaiting extradition to Maryland.
Deputies from the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Northern Precinct were dispatched to the PNC Bank, located in the 2400 block of Whiteford Road in Whiteford just after 10:30 a.m., on Monday for the report of bank robbery. Upon arrival, deputies were alerted that a male suspect had just robbed the bank and fled the scene headed towards Pennsylvania. Patrol deputies immediately responded and began a canvass in search of the suspect. With the assistance of Sheriff’s Office detectives, the suspect was located in Airville, PA. The suspect, identified as, Jesse Allen Burney, 32, of Hanover, PA, was taken into custody, by the Pennsylvania State Police, without incident shortly after 11:30 am.
Through investigation, conducted by detectives from the Harford County Sheriff’s Office, it was determined that Burney entered the bank wearing a helmet, claimed he was armed and demanded money. He then fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Burney’s extradition hearing is scheduled for Friday. He is currently being held on local charges and a detainer from Harford County for his connection in this robbery.
