From Harford County government:
Harford County government is pleased to celebrate May as National Clean Commute Month with Bike to Work Day rallies to be held, rain or shine, at the following locations:
– Wednesday, May 13, 7–9 a.m., Aberdeen Proving Ground North, Erie and Raritan streets adjacent to the Athletic Center
– Friday, May 15, 7-9 a.m., Harford County Administration Building, 220 South Main St., Bel Air
– Friday, May 22, 7-9 a.m., Aberdeen Proving Ground South, 5002 Hoadley Rd.
The rallies hosted by Harford Commute Smart in the Office of Economic Development, and supported by the U.S. Army Garrison APG, promote bicycling as a fun, viable, low-cost option for commuting to work.
The rallies are free; however, registration is required. Registration is now open at
www.Bike2WorkCentralMD.com
Each rally will include a cyclist parade route, vendor exhibits, bicycle inspections and special guests. Radio station WXCY-FM 103.7 will emcee the rally in Bel Air.
Cyclists may ride alone or join a convoy led by an experienced cyclist. There will also be a Team Cycle Challenge, where organizations compete to have the largest team of employees biking to work. Last year’s winners of the Bel Air Team Cycle Challenge were Ecotone, Inc. in the small company category; Survice Engineering in the medium company category, and Upper Chesapeake Health System in the large company category. Last year at APG, the Army Test Evaluation Command took the top honor by fielding the biggest team at APG North.
Registered participants will receive a free gift, snacks-to-go and a chance to win giveaways from program sponsors. Sponsorships are still available. Current sponsors include Coffee, Coffee, Bike Shop of Bel Air, Bike Doctor, Advanced Eye Care, Arena Club, Wawa of Joppa, Freedom Federal Credit Union, Looney’s North, MaGerks, Survice Engineering and radio station WXCY-FM 103.7
For more information about the rallies or to become a sponsor, contact Alan Doran, Harford Commute Smart, Rideshare Coordinator at 410-612-1620 or email rideshare@harfordcountymd.gov

Heh, this must be sarcasm since Harford County is one of the most unfriendly to oublic transpo and bikers I have ever seen. Lets get better public transpo and add in bike/walker lanes. otherwise, this is just mouth service….as usual. Yay for hypocrisy!
