From the Aberdeen Police Department:
The Aberdeen Police Department responded to reports of a robbery at the Aberdeen Wawa around 3:30a.m. on Sunday, April 12, 2015.
Officer S. McMeekin arrived at the Wawa within minutes and was able to provide a description of the suspect to other officers who were canvassing the area. The suspect was located a short time later on Roosevelt Ave in the Highland Commons neighborhood by Corporal O. Jansen and Officer J. Evans. The suspect attempted to flee but was successfully apprehended and arrested.
The suspect was identified as 49-year-old Carl Walker of Ebbtide Drive in Edgewood. Walker allegedly entered the Wawa and physically assaulted an employee before demanding money. He then ran from the store towards the area where he was later apprehended. The Wawa employee did not require medical treatment.
Walker was charged with robbery, theft, second degree assault and burglary.
