Harford Resident says
The NRA offers all kinds of safety classes. Don’t people take those classes before buying a gun? How does stuff like this happen?
mention their name says
the NRA has been demonized to the point where mentioning their name adds you to the monster list.
Harford Resident says
I’m no gun guy by any stretch; I couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn with a firearm. But I’m a big supporter/proponent of gun safety training. A guy like this obviously was not schooled in gun safety despite the NRA offering a gajillion opportunities.
mention their name says
Dirt simple stuff… treat every firearm as though it were loaded and never, never hand anybody a loaded firearm. You’re not even supposed to cross a fence while hunting until you have unloaded your shotgun.
All deaths of this nature are tragic, but this was committing simpleton suicide. I admit, lots of folks know better about dangerous things, they just have mental lapses that cost them their lives.
vietnam vet says
Rumor has it that he was and Ex marine ?
AppliedTactical says
Totally avoidable situation; how it “accidentally” was discharged into his torso is another question.
hmmm... says
For real… I’m still trying to picture a scenario where you show a shotgun to a friend with it pointed at your torso and it goes off… a terrible situation yes, but perplexing as well.
Jay says
Maybe if we taught gun safety in school these types of accidents wouldn’t happen
Harford Resident says
Maybe if parents taught gun safety, or took their kids to the NRA’s Eddie Eagle program, these types of accidents wouldn’t happen.

He is an x marine.
tina metzger says
He is an ex Marine.
Ncole says
I am Ron’s sister. Firstly, Ron was a Former Marine, not Ex. Secondly, my brother was not the person who was handling the gun when it was discharged. To my brother’s knowledge the firearm was not loaded when it was being handled by the person who did fire it. Thirdly, please keep in mind this was an accident, his family is grieving deeply, and we could use a lot less conjecture or character dragging at this point. Thank you.
TEA says
1. All guns are always loaded.
2. Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3. Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target.
4. Be sure of your target, what is in line with it, and what is beyond it.
