Harford County Public Library Foundation hosts its 9th annual “A Night Out @ the Library” featuring author John C. Unitas, Jr., and his book, “Johnny U and Me: The Man Behind the Golden Arm,” on Friday, April 17, at 7:30 p.m. at the Abingdon Library, 2510 Tollgate Road in Abingdon.
“Johnny U and Me: The Man Behind the Golden Arm” is the story of the Colts’ quarterback, Johnny Unitas, widely considered the finest quarterback ever to play the game. Told through the eyes of his son, John, Jr., the book reveals information about his family and father’s career that has never before been brought to light.
Tickets cost $55 per person and include a copy of Unitas’ book. VIP tickets cost $75 per person and include a reception with the author at 6:30 p.m. and a copy of the book. Lite fare from Pairings Bistro will be served. To order tickets, visit hcplonline.org or call 410-273-5600 x2228.
Funds raised by “A Night Out @ the Library” will be used toward the Havre de Grace Library building project.
This revealing and touching biography also focuses on the character and convictions of the man who has lived on in NFL history, both on and off the field, offering clues to what made him the man and the player he was.
John C. Unitas Jr., a resident of Baldwin, is president of the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation, Inc., which bestows the Golden Arm Award each year upon a college player.
