BEL AIR, Md., (March 17, 2015) – Learn how to protect yourself and your loved ones by enrolling in “Prepare Because You Care”, the comprehensive safety and emergency preparedness program that educates Harford County citizens to help themselves, their families and their neighbors. This free basic cpr training course developed by the Harford County Department of Emergency Services includes interactive lectures and practical instruction by emergency management professionals with the goal of building a more resilient community. Citizens aged 16 years and older are welcome to participate.
Registration is now open for the next four-week session to be held each Wednesday beginning on March 25 through April 15 from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Southern Precinct, 1305 Pulaski Highway in Edgewood. Each class will cover one of the following four topics: Emergency Management and Preparedness; Fire Safety and Fire Extinguisher Use; Crime Prevention and Awareness; and CPR/First Aid. Participants who complete all four classes will receive a certificate of training from the Department of Emergency Services.
“Prepare Because You Care helps the citizens we serve be better prepared to handle a variety of emergencies and survive the first 72 hours following a disaster,” said Edward Hopkins, director of the Department of Emergency Services. “We are proud of the success of this new program following its debut earlier this year.”
The first quarterly offering of Prepare Because You Care concluded in late February, with approximately 30 participants completing the program.
