Maryland State Police are searching for a driver and vehicle that struck and killed a Harford County man tonight as he walked behind a snow blower near his home.
The victim is identified as Christian J. Widomsky, 44, of the 2800-block of Harford Road, Fallston, Md. He was transported from the scene by emergency services personnel to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Police do not have a good physical description of the suspect driver. The vehicle that struck the victim is described by witnesses as a dark colored Jeep Cherokee, with dark flared fenders and a silver push bumper. The vehicle has a lift kit, which means it sets higher off the road than regular Jeep Cherokees.
At about 7:00 p.m. today, Maryland State Police at the Bel Air Barrack were dispatched to the 2800-block of Harford Road for the report of a hit and run crash. Investigating troopers learned the victim had borrowed his neighbor’s snow blower. He was walking along the shoulder of Harford Road back to his house behind the snow blower.
Witnesses said the Jeep Cherokee was northbound on Harford Road approaching the victim from behind. Troopers were told the driver of the Jeep appeared to lose control and the vehicle struck the victim from behind. After striking the victim, the Jeep Cherokee did not stop and continued north on Harford Road toward Rt. 152.
Anyone with information about the driver or vehicle involved in this fatal crash is urged to contact Maryland State Police at the Bel Air Barrack immediately, at 410-879-2101. Callers may remain anonymous.

Probably doing 60 in a 45 w no consideration for conditions or the fact that there was a pedestrian on the shoulder. See it everyday but this brings it to a whole new low. I’d like to thank the police for doing nothing to enforce speed regulations – absolutely nothing. When they catch this criminal hope he loses his house, his hideous McMansion, his family and mostly his freedom and for a long time.
There is no doubt something about Jeeps makes the drivers more aggressive while reducing their ability.
Aegis has an article about the storm, part of it is an interview of a jeep driver, the reason he was on the road is he was “testing them”. WTF ahole that isn’t a good reason to be driving around, you could hit someone snowblowing you dbag.

I wouild guess the driver was a young person, not very experienced driving in snow conditions, and lost control while driving too fast, maybe oversteered trying to avoid the man, fishtailed, counter steered into direction of the skid and hit the man they originally tried to avoid. Knowing they were in a world of trouble, got scared and ran. I’m not making excuses for their actions, but trying to show how and why it may have happened. It was an unfortunate accident. I doubt there was any evil intentions, but bad judgement none the less. This person should turn themselves in to police and take responsibility like an adult.
Witnesses report the jeep was traveling at a high rate of speed, hit this poor man and sped off. Kid or no kid this persons conduct makes them criminally responsible.
Yea there were a lot of comments like that before the last hit and run fatality turned out to be a drunk Bishop texting.
No evil intentions? Maybe the driver did not have any premeditation to run into another person, but the criminal and evil ‘intent’ started immediately right after the incident when the person sped off.
People “scared” and “innocent” do not just drive away after they run into another human being with an automobile.

Where are you quoting the word ” innocent ” from? I never used that word…and I stand by my statement that fear is probably why they ran….not evil intentions. Try putting yourself in their place. I for one was involved in a head on collision a few years ago while driving on an unplowed freshly snow covered road. Fortunately, everyone was driving slow, but never the less I lost control of my truck and veered into the oncoming lane & hit a car head on. No one was seriously injured, but it showed me how things can happen while driving on snow covered roads. I’m not excusing hit and run, but I won’t demonize someone for making a mistake….we all do it.
Did you run? We’re you driving at a rate of speed any normal person would consider wreck less for the conditions? I’m guessing no so w all due respect quite making excuses for what isn’t a mistake. A mistake is wearing mismatched socks. A mistake is not racing a 2 ton vehicle on an icey road, mowing down a human being and running away leaving them to die on the asphalt.

A person operating a motor vehicle who wrecks into a pedestrian is “innocent” up until the point they leave the scene.
That is to assume gross negligence didn’t lead to the crash, DUI, and anything else you can be charged with in this state as to what pertains to the operator.
What a sleazebag. He hits a guy driving in his stupid “jacked-up” vehicle and leaves him there to die in the road. How can he live with himself?? I hope they catch him and put him away fro a long time.

A white guy probable but not a thug, hood or ghetto as that’s reserved for blacks. Redneck, white trash, hillbilly maybe? Profiling, I know. But most folks driving Jeeps are white, male and younger than 40. In the Fallston are make that a pasty white guy. Had it been an illegal, the car would be an older model without tail lights and with different color doors and patched up body. Guy was probably under the influence, living in a barn or parents basement and left because if he goes to jail he will be a black man’s big toy for a bit.. In kmy best white voice…. String him up!!!

This should not be too hard to find, there are not that many Jeeps all jacked up around there – especially dark in color, silver push bumper…and now, hideous front-end damage.

You can bet the police will be checking Adams , Jones, other dealers and parts suppliers. No doubt one of his friends or neighbors will notice the damage or removal of parts. What is needed now is more publicity to get the word out. Also, a reward offering may trigger an “anonymous” call.

can the police cross check with the MVA and look for green Jeeps? I realize there are a ton of them but does the MVA have any additional information about the vehicles other than just color and make and model that might help narrow it down?
Unless things have changed in the past two years, the MD MVA only lists the make and model and other info on the vehicle, but not the color. May be wrong but that’s the way it was. It would have been listed as 2 or 4 dr Jeep TK and thats it. Anyone know if they changed it?
You can tell the colors by VIN, if its the original color. Take all the Jeeps matching the description and cross reference the VINs to the color. However, the MVA does list the color so this is unnecessary. Just look at you Registration.

Nope, not there… not even on the title or application. The vin will give you info on the color, but how many jeeps are listed in md, yet alone green ones. MD DMV VR-005 (08-14). Doesn’t even ask for the color.

Maryland, like most states, has never made a vehicle’s color part of Registration. Nor do VIN numbers delineate paint color. You have to pick up a paint code from either a decal or stamped plate on the vehicle body or “build sheet” placed in the interior parts during manufacture.
Someone definitely has information on this crime, but the driver still has to pay the ultimate price & that is facing himself/herself in the mirror every day. God bless his family and friends. This person will eventually be caught. I have faith in our law enforcement.

Heard there was a drug related search at a home last night and the jeep was there. 22 year old Belair kid involved… Anxiously awaiting confirmation. Hope the bastard rots in prison.

That’s what I’d like to know as well. Seems to be some very vague sketchy details…why thy mystery? Maybe the police are waiting to put all ducks in a row but at minimum hit and run carries charges, and not only that the idea that even if the victim here were towards the edge of the road but not off the lane completely certainly doesn’t mean a driver has no duty to proceed with caution. If he/she was exceeding a speed the average person would consider unsafe for the conditions it ought be more than just hit and run. Put 10 drivers in the same circumstance and maybe only this yo yo runs over the guy and then just about only this yo yo and 2 or 3 others in the entire county drives away. If they have the car they know who owns it.

Another privileged white kid from heroin high, Fallston. If this was a black kid he would have been shot with his arms up and\or po po would have beaten up some other black accomplices while investigating.

Reporters are mostly extinct. All that is left are news readers that sit around waiting for a news release from the police, government, etc. The days of investigative journalism have pass, welcome to the new era of PRAVDA U.S.A.

We’re now into June and nothing. At minimum there ought to be hit and run charges and nothing. Sure seems to me somebody would just rather we collectively forget.
